The Billfold is hit-or-miss for me, but today there's a great post on FU money:

It’s nice to get the perspective of a woman who has used such a fund throughout her life.  Admittedly it feels like much of her story is more "took a risk because I had the financial cushion to do so" versus true "FU, I don't need your money".  Maybe it doesn't really matter.

One of the Billfold’s greatest hits is their fictional piece on the FU Fund.  I'm not surprised that they're trying to go back to that well.

I think that is the exact purpose of FU money! If your current situation isn't everything it ought to be, that FU fund allows you to try and make things right.
