On the one hand I'm really impressed by the out of the box (or perhaps it should be in the box) thinking and the self sufficiency. On the other hand I'm horrified by the amount of useless crap he kept around (shoes, big screen tv, etc).

I'm surprised that he didn't run into problems . . . considering that he was stealing power through that one tiny electrical cord and is running a computer, large screen TV, hot plate, toaster oven, and lights.  Most extension cables aren't rated for very much amperage.

Rent storage locker-  No Phone, No Pool, No Pets... and someone (even on the other side of the Internets) counting each and every Watt Hr burned and deducting it from your allowance...

I don't get the negativity to him owning a decent TV. He even says in the video it was a temporary thing, living in the storage unit - he's clearly not *poor* poor. He has an '09 Civic.

Save $700 a month on rent, spend it on stuff you care about - like gaming or watching films or whatever, on a nice TV.
