Duke graduate student lives in a van
« on: April 10, 2013, 06:26:27 PM »
Interesting and thought-provoking article (NYT education section) by a student who lives in a van while attending graduate school at Duke to avoid taking out loans. Besides the living-in-a-van part, one of the cool things about his story is the fact that he paid off 32K in undergrad loans by working in Alaska. He was determined not to go into debt again for graduate school.

Well... livED.  MMM actually just mentioned him in his blog post.  Here is his blog.

He walked through my town on his trip.  I offered him a couch and a washing machine, but he was already past me.

Us, too, but we weren't on his route.
