Thanks for sharing.

The charities can have my stache AFTER I'm dead.

$15k/year is pretty frugal.

I'm assuming he works for a Silly Valley company or is at the CTO/lead architect level. They must work in a non HCOL area to only pay $400/month in rent/property taxes/mortgage, or they've paid off the mortgage.

Paging @englishteacheralex. Have you seen this article?

Also trying to page Sammy the Sailor, but her batsignal seems to be broken. Anyone?

Nope, hadn't seen it. I love it. Hard to find people who donate a significant percentage of their income and allow themselves to be profiled about it. I appreciate their willingness to go public--it's inspiring to those who weren't aware that percentage giving is possible and desirable.

Thanks for the batsignal, Dicey! And to Gerard for the article link. The couple profiled is leagues above me in both dollars and percentage. The part about 32k in disposable income bringing 7/10 happiness was particularly interesting to me. I’ve always seen 70k quoted. Though, maybe that’s gross income.

I think 70k is the point at which there's almost no happiness return on increasing income. They chose a lower point on the curve and pointed out that even down here it's still relatively flat.

I didn't know the bit about giving to charity being as good as doubling your income re: happiness, though!
