Definitely badass/mustashian, although not a lot of talk about money and finances.

Nonetheless they live on their own terms, and do everything they can by themselves. It's a pretty great story, although I prefer to have electricity!

My wife and I own a place there on Lake Superior. Currently live in DC, but we're going to FIRE there full time starting this fall. Pretty common mentality up around there.

Thanks for the link. I enjoyed the article. This is how I used to dream about living - before I met my spouse. Now I'm just a happy Mustachian on the trajectory to live a passably middle-class life while retiring before 40. It's a fair trade-off :)
