I'm assuming the spending of only 800 HKD a month is referring to discretionary spending - perhaps his wife in charge of the household finances and takes care of the essential stuff so what it amounts to is that he gets 800 HKD fun money per month. Because I don't see how one could spend only 800 HKD per month on everything including housing, bills, and food in Hong Kong... that would be difficult to do even in cheaper countries like in SE Asia. Even with a paid-off property presumably there are still rates to pay. Obviously it's still impressive if it's only discretionary spending given how rich he is and could totally afford to spend a lot more, but the distinction needs to be made. He seems like a genuinely decent dude either way though!
