Interesting article.

Aldi is one of my favorite grocery stops.  I don't think this article addressed it, but Aldi and Trader Joe's are owned by the same parent company.  I've noticed the quality at Aldi on the rise -- particularly in the dark chocolate and grains (couscous, who knew?) aisles.  They also have some nice goat cheeses.

ALDI founders were reclusive, whether they were also personally frugal (whatever that means for a billionaire) is unknown.

You don't get to be a billionaire by spending all your income.

Intersting, I didn't know much about the origins of ALDI.  I do know they have saved me a heap of money in the 10+ years I have been doing almost all of my shopping there.  Not to mention the time saved not having to compare prices, clip coupons etc. Whenever I am forced to go to the regular grocery for some reason, it takes forever to find what I need, (I do walk more though) and it kills me to buy it there knowing it is cheaper at ALDI.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
