Ok, but rote learning doesn't demonstrate understanding. It just shows a decent memory and desire to please the authority figure by telling them what they've told you they want to hear. Well done, I guess.
It does demonstrate awareness. How many of us knew the least thing about anything financial at that age?
None, and most of us turned out just fine. Awareness is fine, I just don't applaud recall as being particularly impressive. If there were some critical thinking involved I'd be suitably impressed by the value of the lesson.
"If a teacher is indeed wise he does not bid you enter the house of his wisdom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind." Kahlil Gibran
First, mustachians are not average. A shocking number of adults don't know anything about PF.
And there's nothing wrong with having good memorization skills.
You do not have to be impressed. I was, so I posted it. And your quote is lovely, but the kid is eight years old, hanging out with his dad and having a little fun. Not sure why you feel the need to be so critical, but go ahead, own it, man.
