5 Things You Get From Working Too Hard

I enjoyed this. I wonder, are North Americans and Europeans really so different when it comes to work? I once knew a man from France who had some radical notions about "enjoying life"... :)

The problem, at least for me, is that the stereotypical Euro-American vacation is anything but "a period of relaxation and leisure".  Say you're a Frenchman taking off the month of August: you jam your family in the car and head off to the Mediterranian coast, along with half the country, to pack yourselves on a beach and try to believe you're having fun.  Or an American who fits the kids in the SUV, and heads off to Yellowstone, hoping to get a glimpse of Old Faithfull over the heads of 40,000 people and their kids...

Keep on buying those cars!  I'll need something to drive in retirement.

It's mostly a stereotype. We are fortunate to get significantly more vacation (big thanks to our ancestors!) and we do use it, but otherwise people here work a lot too. I personally know many French people who work well above 40 hours a week...
