Not sure if this has already been posted, but if you have a 4th grader then they and their families, will be entitled to free admission to America’s national parks, federal lands and waters for the 2015-2016 school year.

This was mentioned when we were visiting Shenandoah last week. Sounds like a good idea. Check out the Junior Ranger Program while there to get them hooked on outdoorsy stuff. Our kid earned (7 yrs old - he worked hard for it!) the badge and was super proud of himself. He was just disappointed that they didn't offer him a posting as a ranger's helper when he thought it was done. His impression was that a junior ranger got to wear the badge and go to work!

To kick off FIRE, we're planning on a month long National Park road trip next summer (with our 4th grader).  Should be able to knock out 7+ parks!

For those that don't qualify a regular annual pass can be had for $80.
