Seattle: Friendly fixed male cat needs new home *closed*
« on: January 14, 2015, 02:45:16 PM »
Modified to add: Circumstances have changed and I'm going to try to keep Indy. I'll modify this again if it looks like the new place isn't working out.

I have a male cat I need to re-home. His name is Indiana Jones (or Indy for short). He is a black and gold tabby cat, about 25 pounds and 6 years old. He is half Bengal breed and half alley cat.

He is fixed, up-to-date on all shots, has a microchip, litterbox trained, and no health problems. He is very affectionate - always wanting head rubs and wanting to be held- but he isn't a lap cat.

The problem: he is so affectionate he gets very lonely when there aren't humans around. In addition, I'm currently living in 300 sq/ft and the place is just too small for an active kitty.

Ideal would be an indoor only home with someone who is home a majority of the day and who doesn't have kids (the cat has never been around children or been outside).

The rehome would also have the stipulation that if something changes and you couldn't care for him anymore I would take him back.

PM me if you have a home or know someone who would like a nice kitty.

Duh. Forgot to put kitties name in the post.

Awwwww, he's a cutie. I could tell he had Bengal in him just from the photo.

Unfortunately I'm in a tiny studio myself right now and am not in the right place to adopt a pet - but he's sooooo cute.

He is a VERY pretty cat. He got the distinctive bengal coloring. his stomach is spotted (I used to joke about him wearing stripes with polka dots).

In case anyone might be on the fence, I just want to say that Bengal cats are a LOT of fun.  They are a relatively new breed that comes from mating a common house/tabby cat with an Asian Leopard Cat (a wild feline).  Usually they are 3 - 4 generations removed from the "wild" so they are as totally domesticated as a regular cat but still have the active lifestyle / energy of their heritage. This one is probably at least a couple generations further removed since it is only part-Bengal

Bengals love running and jumping on cat furniture, jumping HIGH into the air if you play with cat toys with them (like the fishing rod kind)...  lots of Bengals even like to play in water, doing things like drinking from the sink if you turn it on or even hop into the shower with you when you're not expecting -- this isn't guaranteed, some cats are nervous around water as an individual thing, but as a breed lots of Bengals like the water (though not all do).

My last cat was a Bengal.... they are SOOO much fun.  It's like a cat that 'acts' like a dog for the purposes of play, or wanting affection...  but they are still a cat, so lots of times they just want to sit on a high ledge and watch the room, being cocky/arrogant like they own the house (like all cats)...  so if you are not in the mood for playing they are happy to be left alone, but if both of you are in the mood it can be quite a fun time.

Some bengal owners even get a cat harness and 'walk' their cat just like they would a dog.  Yes, you get strange looks if you do this (did it a couple times).

I'm not saying this cat exhibits all the above behaviors - I have no idea, and probably not or at least a milder version of them since he is only part Bengal -- but my point is, if you think you MIGHT like a new pet, this would be a great guy to adopt as he will definitely enhance your life and be a great companion!!!

Come on... look at that face....  how can you say no?  =D

Thanks for the sales pitch pzxc. Bengals are a lot of fun, but they are high energy and as you can see from the pic, my place isn't very big (you can see my entire apartment in the background of that second pic that I took last night.)

He likes to run around and play.

I have a harness and a leash, and I've taken him out for walks a few times just around the halls of my apartment building and the alley. he is big enough I had people doing double takes going 'wait, that's a cat!'

Naw, he looks adorable. I lived with a Bengal once, who can be a bit wild, but he plays fetch which is super awesome! I imagine a part Bengal would be a pretty sweet mix. More affectionate, but still retaining some cool qualities. Hope Indy finds a good home.

Half Bengal...I wish you were closer!! My Cheetoh passed away last year and I would love another similar cat.

Ihamo,
I was more worried about small children. I think older kids would be fine with him.

Dopeysla69,
At this time I'm going to take this down. I've found a new job so I'll be moving to a place where I can afford a decent sized place for the kitty to run around it. It was already a hard decision to post this and now that I have an opportunity to keep him I'm taking it.
