Republic Wireless Moto X - broken screen
« on: July 03, 2015, 10:24:02 AM »
Yesterday our border collie decided to chew on my wife's Moto X.

The device:

Republic Wireless Moto X (Gen1)
16GB internal storage

The damage:

Broken glass
Digitizer not working (does not detect finger movements)
OLED panel (makes a small amount of light but is unreadable)

What's fine:

Everything else

~

The phone was in a case and so the back only suffered very minor cosmetic damage from his the dog's chewing. Although I would normally attempt a repair myself, we needed her line usable and active immediately and so we picked up a replacement device locally and transferred her number over to it.

This phone will only work on Republic Wireless's network. In order to activate it, you simply need to create an account, sign in on the phone, and follow the steps. Plans are as follows:

$5 per month - WiFi calling/texting/data
$10 per month - Unlimited cell calling/texting via Sprint's network, and roaming on Verizon's towers
$25 per month - Unlimited cell calling/texting/data via 3G
$45 per month - Unlimited cell calling/texting/data via 4G

Republic has recently announced they will be adding data buckets in the near future, potentially allowing plans with data for only slightly more than $10 per month, depending on your usage.

I'm open to any reasonable offer for the phone, though I'll be out of town for the weekend and will probably not see them before Monday. The battery life is fair (will often last 2 days of light use), the camera takes decent pictures, and it's not absurdly large, coming in at ~4.7". I'll throw in a charger and case if requested.

I'll offer $40 shipped for it to 98034.  I repair smartphones on a regular basis and do a lot of screen/LCD replacements.
