French->English/English->French translation/proofreading
« on: December 11, 2013, 10:46:56 PM »
Hello everyone,

I'm offering my services as a translator/proofreader for your documents and any other files in English or French. I'm a native English/French speaker from Quebec (Canada) with an ESL teaching degree and a valid teaching authorization. I've done some translation in the past and a lot of proofreading here in China for university students.

I do not have specific rates at the moment so if you need help with something just let me know and I'm sure we will come to an agreement that will satisfy everyone.

Hi MrMyMoney,
great to see another translator, I do German into English. Is this an on-the-side gig you'd like to make full-time or just for the extra money?

Cool.  I bet you'll find some work.  Have you advertised to any local businesses?  I remember seeing some funny things written in english, on signs in Montreal, written by francophone business owners.

Actually, translation and proofreading are merely jobs I take on the side. I'm not a professional translator, but as an ESL teacher I can help my fellow Mustachians with some jobs for smaller pay. I'm not looking at becoming rich this way because I would have gone with a translation degree if that had been the case.

As a matter of fact, I'm currently looking for jobs in construction in Alberta for the beginning of next year to get some experience and possibly make a career switch. Don't get me wrong, I love teaching, but the low pay, unstable job security that can last for decades and the almost nonexistent possibilities for professional advancement made me realize I may be a great teacher , but I would have a much better life doing something else for the moment.
