Novel recommendation: Capital by John Lancaster
« on: May 16, 2013, 10:40:39 PM »
So I'm not through with this book yet but it's great and seems like something others on here might appreciate.  It's a novel that follows several different inhabitants of the same block in a neighborhood in London where home values are skyrocketing. There's one character in particular who starts out as a sort of paradigm of antimustachianism, though his values change throughout the book. Lots of interesting stuff about what people do for money and how they do or don't let it rule them.

Having finally finished this book, I'm going to reiterate that I think people in this forum would really enjoy it.  Great novel in its own right, lots of insight into the crazy things people do for money and the crazy things money does to people.

Thanks for the recommendation, looking for a good fiction that would be easy to read and is hopefully just relaxing. Just requested it from my library, will pick it up on Saturday.

Wouldn't necessarily describe it as relaxing but I hope you enjoy it.
