I've been reading the book "Green Metropolis:  Why Living Smaller, Living Closer, and Driving Less Are the Keys to Sustainability" by David Owen.  Many of the ideas are "Mustachian" and so won't come as a surprise to readers here, but he does turn a lot of the conventional wisdom about "sustainability" (a word I've come to loathe due to its ubiquitous-ness and use to rationalize a broad realm of questionable actions) on its head.  In the end, it's a love letter to high-density urban housing, public transportation dependent cities, and small spaces.
