Baby needs to nurse on demand, especially during the growth spurts that occur at 2-3 weeks, 6 weeks and 2 months. Baby can’t go 3 hours. Baby is screaming and attacking boobs because he’s hungry. Baby attacking boobs is what will increase milk supply for future growth spurts. Sleep deprivation is part of parenthood. I appreciate you trying to help but if she wants to breastfeed than she needs to buck up and feed the baby.

Just saw update so it sounds like you’ve already figured out that out.

It no longer sounds environmentally appropriate, but what we did was drive our babies around at night in the car. Also, they slept with us. The breastfeeding parent learned to sleep through a feeding (lying down in bed at night). Also I'm sure you know this but you do want to get that bottle feeding happening fairly soon (with breast milk) or the baby simply won't take a bottle from anyone.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
