rocket pop molds
« on: August 22, 2013, 03:50:19 PM »
We got a set of rocket pop molds at whole foods. They are awesome. So far, I'll admit, I've filled them with store bought lemonade (no HFCS) but our daughter loves them and one carton of lemonade makes a lot of ice lollies.

It's also a lot less sweet than a regular store ice lolly.

Anyone with some good homemade fruit based recipe s?

My son is only 2, so we try not to give him loads of sugar.  We've found a combination of fruit, yogurt and coconut milk in a blender make delicious, creamy popsicles.  I don't know the proportions - it's usually using up bits of whatever fruit is about to go bad, a few tablespoons of yogurt and half a can of coconut milk to make 16 small popsicles.

We do yogursicles too. I love that they don't drip and it's basically the same as giving them some fruit + yogurt + honey which is a regular breakfast at our house. My son loves to have a popsicle for breakfast or snack on a warm day!

I just blend together plain yogurt, honey and fruit, and maybe a splash of juice or milk.

Are the rocket pop molds a brand?  Do they have other types at Whole Foods?  I want to get a really high quality set that will last and work well.  Years ago I got some that were really cheaply made (but not that inexpensive) and they would not come out of the mold.  It was very frustrating.  Any other recommendations of specific brands/models of high quality pop molds, especially if you've had them a while and used them a lot.

Thanks!

A favorite in our house is to puree watermelon with a bit of coconut milk and freeze it into popsicles.  Really refreshing, naturally sweet and my girls (3 and 1) love them.
