Cool finance Gift For Kids
« on: December 11, 2015, 11:42:02 AM »
Hey everyone,

Been AWOL for awhile, but I found a pretty cool gift to get kids interested in finance.

A company called StockPile sells gift cards at retailers like Wal-Greens, Kroger, Target, etc that are basically stock.
You buy $25 of Apple Stock and when the recipient activates it they get a certain amount of shares.

The gift cards are low cost, $3, and there is no maintenance fee. They have a lot of companies that kids would know like NetFlix, Disney, etc.

I prefer Vanguard indexing list most people here, but I think this is a cool way to get kids into finance and investing.

Here is the review I read about it. http://mommyword.com/giving-the-gift-of-stock/

I actually used StockPile to help educate my nieces and nephews on investing, and they thought it was pretty cool. I think that it is a great idea to use this company to teach kids and get them interested in finance. To your point, a lot of the companies that participate in this program are ones that kids would know, so it makes education all the more easier.

As you mention on your blog, if only they had gift cards for index funds...

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
