If baby is breastfed, flushable inserts aren't necessary because you don't have to rinse the diapers anyway. Unless you mean because smell is an issue... I won't argue with you there!

frugalparagon - agreed, it all depends on your poo tolerance level. I have very little :). The good news is, if you do chose to use the flushables, you only need them for a short time. After a while most babies poop less and eventually the poop becomes more solid so you can just shake it into the toilet. Wow, that's a lot of poop talk for someone with a low poop tolerance :)

Just shake it into the toilet? I wish. I was just blogging about this very issue and how I keep dishwashing gloves on the back of the toilet. I will let your imagination fill in the rest...

Yeah, shaking never worked for me.  I got a diaper sprayer, and that was a lot better.
