Thanks for creating the meetup page, avrex! I RSVPd there, as well. Do you all want to meet at the Keele / Bloor entrance or inside the park? Not sure how to convey where we'd be sitting if already inside the park (x-posted this to the meetup group).

Prospector - yes we're on for tomorrow 11am - 2pm at high park.

If a location has not been decided before tomorrow, I'll go there early to scope out a spot, and share my location.

I will make a location suggestion (even though I don't really know the park that well).

How about in the Hillside Gardens section, at or near the picnic pavilion (located by the BIG Canadian flag).

I was planning on coming down by bike, but I woke up with the worst headache ever... may come by train if this abates somewhat

Get well, prospector.

For identification purposes at the park, I'm the bald guy with the bright orange shirt.

It was great meeting you all!

Follow-up on ebike discussion -- here is my ebikes "beginner's info" post at endless-sphere:
http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=26619

The post is a little old now, but I don't think a lot has changed since then.  I don't hang out on endless-sphere much any more, but if anyone is interested in building their own, PM me here and I'd be happy to answer questions, etc.

Sorry to have missed! Family matters call.  Anyone want to share a synopsis? Was another planned?

I came a bit late so not sure what I missed at the beginning, but the conversations ranged all over the place.  It was a beautiful day, great temperature, and we sat under partial tree shade at a picnic table with other families etc. around.  Lots of talk about our histories, how we found MMM etc., jobs, what part of Toronto/GTA we live in.  A fair bit of talk about investments (as you can see from the links from slsdly), dividends-only vs. regular 4% withdrawal, points cards and bank fees, things like that.  My ebike link came from a brief discussion about those mostly down at one end of the table.  A bit of talk about what parts of the forum we mostly follow (the anti-mustachian shame kind of threads were popular).  A question of 'do you talk about mustachianism with others' was met with mostly pretty quick No's.  Several of the group were "tech" people and we talked about that lifestyle, working from home, etc.

I'm sure I've forgotten many of the topics, but I'm sure you get the idea.  I didn't hear any talk of another meetup.  It's a bit far for me to come very often, but I'd come when I could.  There were twelve of us by the end, I think; I'm sure there are many more 'lurkers' around who might come to other meetups.

I have to say, as much as reading and posting on the forum helps connect with kindred spirits, meeting up in real life was really enjoyable, and of course makes it so much easier to get more depth behind people's stories.  I was very impressed by everyone in the group -- as you'd expect, a group of people who are taking control of their lives, with good heads on their shoulders and great attitudes.

Only found this forum now and just recently joined the Mustachians on Facebook group.
Anyone have ideas for the next meet up? I'd love to get this Torontonian Mustachian tribe going (or get involved if it already is)!

I'm sad that I was not in Toronto for the summer, so I missed the Meetup in June.

New poster, but have been lurking the site for awhile now.
I would be down for a meetup/boardgame cafe downtown.

I'd be down to go play some games as well! I went to the last meetup, and it was a lot of fun :) What dates/times work for those reading during Fri Dec 4 - Fri Dec 11? (picking later dates since it takes some time for everyone to see - feel free to make other suggestions).

Right now it looks like I can do any day from the 4th-11th except the 9th.  (weekdays downtown after 5pm)  I'm horrible at most board games, but I do enjoy playing them.

How about setting it tentatively for the Saturday the 5th after lunch? I'm not sure what lineups are like these days for Snakes & Lattes and whether we should come early - is anyone in the know?

Whoops, I misread alee23's post. How about Dec 8 at 5:30pm?

Nice to see the lurkers crawl out. I'm down for any day, but a weeknight is preferable for me since I work downtown and commute to the suburbs.

I live and work in the suburbs... Anyways travelling contra-flow in teh PM peak is OK, right? I hope? I think you can even take a bike on the Lakeshore line in the contraflow direction at peak times, can't you? Maybe I'll split the trip into train and bike components.

I think everyone was talking about visiting Snakes and Lattes - google says there is more than one of those. Anyone have an address?

Dec 8th works for me.
The college location (489 college st.) is closer to my work, but I'm good with either location.

December  8th sounds good!

Another suggestion is 401 games on Yonge St. between College and Wellesley

Weekday traffic can be pretty bad if you're driving. Not sure about the GO train rules, sorry!

I've heard good things about Snakes and Lattes as well.

I wouldn't drive into downtown anyways - It'll be on the train or not at all :)

Let's go to either of these  - Snakes & Lattes on College or 401 Games.

I've never been to the college Snakes & Lattes location, but their Bloor location is great.

I saw the 401 game room while it was still being built, and I'm not sure how much it costs, whether they have drinks on hand, and what the selection is like. csr - do you happen to know?

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a table at either place?

Prospector - I figure the train coming downtown isn't so bad even during rush hour. I've never done it, but that's what the TTC is like going contra-flow in the PM :)

Ah, thanks for pointing out the benefit of 401 games, csr!

Alright, let's make this official:
Toronto mmm meetup, take 2
December 8, 5:30pm
401 Games at 518 Yonge St

$2/person to get in, buying snacks is optional. Bring your own if you wish :)
Note that the entrance to the gaming room is to the side of the main entrance.

Feel free to join later, too - but let's aim for 5:30 for those who can make it. I think we might spend a few hours there? More info can be found here: http://www.401games.ca/boardgamerentals/

According to the Triplinx planner, if I leave here at 4:00, I make it there at 5:26. Lets see how accurate that is.

Can we reserve a table at 401 games? Or can someone make up a MMM tent card so we can find each other? Never been to a board Game Cafe before so I have no idea what to expect.

If anyone else is coming on the train from the east side, PM me and we can maybe ride together.

I don't think it's possible to reserve a table at 401 Games - maybe you know, csr?

Let's all post what we'll be wearing and we'll probably find each other. The space is not really huge, it's easy to walk around the whole thing in 1-2 minutes.

Maybe we could make a sign though? :D

Sounds good! I'll be there and will wear my white, green and blue hoodie.

I'm not sure about reservations, but I can get there a little early and get us a table since I get off at 4:30. A sign would be a good idea too. Maybe print off something on a 8.5x11" paper.

I have class that night, so I doubt I'll make it. :(
Some more info about 401 Games:
There's lots of tables upstairs, typically seating around 8 people per table. No snacks or drinks are available for sale, as far as I know, but you're welcome to bring some with you. Just don't make a mess, obviously.
The door to the games area is directly north (to the right, if you're looking at the storefront) of the main entrance to the shop, up a flight of stairs.

I hope that I'll be able to come.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
