Its been a whole month folks. And I wasn't even there last time.

I'm sooooo loooonely without yoooooooouuuuuuu.

I propose a picnic. I dunno where or anything, but still... picnic?

I can picnic during daylight hours. Once the mosquitoes come out I become a blood buffet for them, so I retreat indoors when it gets dark out (after sunset we could do PATH food court again or coffee shop).

The Thai restaurant plainjane introduced us to last time was great, FYI.  In case anyone else coming combines MMMeet ups with their indulgent social spending.

Depending how many and when, I can host a picnic on my apartment terrace at Church and Wellesley. We're fairly mosquito free as we're surrounded by concrete. If they do come out or it rains, we can head indoors.

I can probably host up to 12 people.

Great idea!

Now we need to figure out when and what to bring. Based on the recent pics of Borat that were floating around I already know what I'm wearing.

Wednesday, August 2nd?

I get off work nearby at 5, usually home by 5:15. So I can properly tidy my apartment, we can start this shindig at 5:45pm?

Note I don't have much in the way of kitchenware or blankets (minimalist), so people will have to bring things to eat and sit on outside.

I have ample amounts of paper towel and if we proceed indoors, plenty of chairs. Can also offer soda, coffee, tea, and tap water.

I'm in for Wed Aug 2nd!  Probably get there 6:15-6:30pm.

Are we doing potluck or bring-your-own-dinner plus treats to share?

I think the bring your own dinner plus treats is the way to go!

Anyone else interested in attending the meetup, please respond to this thread or on the FB group. I'll private message the address.

Fantastic! By my count it looks like 4-5 people, which is a good size. I also own plenty of board games as an option. Will DM address...

Hey folks!

I'm a long time reader, but new to the forums! Looks like there is a good little Toronto mustache community!
I'm out in south Etobicoke, and would love to join a meetup at some point! Following for future meetups!

@Canuckexpat, just read all of your blog! Won't be able to make the meet up tonight, but wanted to say super inspiring stuff! DH and I are planning kiddos in the next little while and I especially liked your posts about the costs of child raising!

Great chatting with and meeting everyone yesterday. Thanks for hosting tomatops.

Glad you liked it kaypinkhardhat, good luck on your journey to FI. FWIW, we left early cause the kids were getting tired and acting up. By the time we got them home and in bed, wife was tired out as well. I mentioned something about "aren't you glad you don't have to work tomorrow", and she had totally forgot that people would have to work tomorrow.. if that's any inspiration :)

@CanuckExpat, I was actually out last night at a comedy show which turned into a games night which could have lead to kareoke, and I had to head home instead of kareoke due to work in the morning...it will be very interesting one day to not have to!

Toronto is quite a large city, would people be interested in meeting up in the east end? Lots of free parks and beaches, game board cafes as well.

I come from far to the west, and keep meaning to invite everyone over, but I could maybe venture east. How far east are we talking?

I'm happy to do something along the Danforth line, or Queen E.

Propose a location and a couple of dates and see who replies - that's how we manage meetups in TO. :)

We were talking about doing something at my place on the night before Camp Mustache, but now it looks like a pile of airport runs are in my future, so I'm not sure how smart that is...

plainjane is coming to dinner Saturday September 30th. We're eating food and sharing spices that we've bought excess of.  I don't live in the city, but I'm a quick walk from a GO station on a Lakeshore line

PM me if you'd like to join us.

Next meetup is at my place on October 19th - arrive any time after 6:00 PM. Take the Lakeshore East train to the Whitby GO station and then ping me for a pickup. We will run a shuttle to the GO station.

A bunch of international guests will be there, so be ready to meet a handful of CMCers. I may be preoccupied with CMC prep stuff, but I'll do my best to be a good host.

Looks like we are moving the party away from my place in the suburbs and into the heart of Toronto.

Meetup is now at teh "semi-famous" dog fountain in Berzcy Park. Find it here: https://goo.gl/maps/dmrX4yX5Eny

I may be bit after 6pm, but not by much.  I can do a Bulk Barn run for rockets & swedish berries if we're still expecting out of towners. Anything else I missed discussion of that I should look for?

Sorry we will miss you EF.

So this meetup is on Thursday - 6:00 PM - Dog Fountain (which I still haven't seen)

Bring snacks to share.

I'll wear my construction jacket. Unless its hot, then I'll just wear a vest.

As is normal for all meetups, I will wear my orange construction jacket and a red ballcap so I stand out.

Extra special for this meetup, I will have a pink star balloon on a pole. So I stand out.

Posting this in a few places in hopes that it's seen...

For those of you who might be wondering if I'm still coming to CMC, and for those who have given up and presumed me to have been hit by a car, I thought I should let you all know that I am alive (just barely) and coming.  Have spoken to Prospector, who assures me that I have a bed, at least.  Sorry that I completely bailed on all the advance planning and such.  But am looking forward to meeting y'all.

Will not be able to make the meet-up, but will see you tomorrow

I'm just curious.

Is the facebook group used in any way to plan these Toronto meetups?
Or is all of the planning done within this thread?

For example,
Was the dog fountain meetup organized a) on both this thread and facebook or b) just via this thread.

The reason that I'm asking is because I'm wondering if it's even worth bothering signing up for that facebook group.
Thanks.

In my experience, the planning is still mostly done on the forum thread. The facebook group is a good reminder for ppl like me, that at times forget to check the forum for months, but are more actively checking facebook.

Speaking of meet-ups, I know for me it's way better to get something into my book in advance, than to try to plan a get together at short notice.  Anyone interested in starting the discussion about meeting up later this fall, maybe late November?
