Looked on the map and I only see 2 other Sacramento Mustacians. Anyone else out there? I'd love to get enough people here to have a meet up / activity (it really helps if there's a community, lol)

this is so funny! Thank you 1WattLightBulb for actually having the guts to organize a small meetup in Sac! I hadn't even realized all of you had responded back to this thread. must. pay. attention. lol. ok. So today's meetup was small, 3(4) people showed up) and I'd love to see all of you at the next meetup. Want to meet on a Saturday or Sunday in May? Just noticed this thread. I'm close enough to Sac and would be up for meeting as well.
Perhaps a mustachian summer meetup that includes some easy hiking or getting close to nature somewhere where the crowds aren't?

*edit* MEET UP CANCELLED. I sent out emails and all but one of you in Sac are busy that weekend. :-( I'll put up a poll on which dates work best or you can law a response here.

I'm in Sacramento and started reading MMM this summer (found it through family biking blogs I discovered in association with May Is Bike Month). I'd like to meet more local fugal people. I'm most likely to make it to a Meetup scheduled for a Saturday planned 4+ weeks in advance.

I know this thread is old but I am also in Sacramento. My main reason for meeting up is finding other sane people and learning how to +1 my MMM skills particular to this region.

There are tentative plans to have a meetup at McKinley Park at noon on Saturday 26 March 2016. This was proposed by 1WattLightbulb in a PM addressed to those who had posted in this thread.
Greetings Sacramento Mustachians! Last year we had a picnic at McKinley Park on a mid-March afternoon. Are you interested in doing this again? I'll just throw out a random date - does Saturday, March 26 at noon work? It's after the rainy season and before it's super hot, so I hope the weather cooperates.
Last time, we grabbed a picnic table, shared munchies, and basically chatted for awhile. Perhaps this time we could also bring outdoor games or activities and lawn chairs.
I came away feeling more motivated on certain life strategies, and isn't that what it's about - keeping up the momentum? Networking, sharing ideas, celebrating successes, and so on.

Saturdays are generally good for me to. I note on my calendar that 26 March is the day before Easter this year - might affect some people, especially if that means their kids are on spring break the week before or after. No one has proposed an alternate date and I'm OK with 26 March; if someone does, I'd like to note that 5 March, 19 March, 2 April, 30 April, and 7 May are Saturdays I would not likely attend a meetup on. I also would be unlikely to come to a Sunday meetup.

Last year we identified each other by wearing red shirts, so how about we do that?

Today I enjoyed meeting and talking with 4 other Mustacheans at McKinley Park near midtown Sacramento. It was great to hear about the successes of everyone and their current path to financial independence; I felt very welcome as a new member of this board. Thanks!
I hope we can meet again in September or before that, if the group desires.
(Everyone except for me brought picnic fare to share with others--I'll have to do better next time.)

Me too! 1w, thanks for organizing it, and thanks to everybody who made it! Look forward to going to the next one and seeing everyone who made it this time and the ones who didn't as well. It's great to have a community to connect to in person.

Perhaps not a formal meetup, but if anyone ever wants to join me I am usually doing something outside on the weekends. Mostly I've been working my way through the book 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles - Sacramento, but sometimes I'm out riding on trails or going to some free event.

I don't see why a hike or ride couldn't be the focus of a "formal" meetup. I was thrilled to find a bike ride as a neighborhood event on May Is Bike Month.

Since the weather looks nice this weekend, I figured I would knock out a couple of hikes from my list on Saturday (6/18/16). These were described as easy hikes, although it looks like Point Defiance can be made more challenging by doing the loop. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I'm exploring and can't speak to the quality of these hikes, but if anyone else wants to join me then great!

We're starting to get serious and excited about moving to the area! We are would-be first-time buyers.
I'm really interested in finding a duplex, where we can live in one unit and rent out the other. If it takes a while to find that, we'll probably rent while searching.

Have you ever listened to the ChooseFI podcast? They have local Facebook groups, and the Sacramento group had a meet up earlier this year. They're a lot more active than this thread.

Ah, well allow me to extend a premature welcome, Michaelrecycles! Midtown is a fun neighborhood.
I haven't heard of ChooseFI yet, but I do enjoy podcasts and have started to exhaust my play list recently, so this is definitely up my alley. Will definitely see about this facebook group and listen to that. Thank you!

It's the most I've ever seen in my [short] life. In the Natomas area, there was a white blanket over everything. Car was parked outside all day and it took me 40 minutes to get home, and hail was still coating it when I got back in the garage. Poor turkeys and chickens who live outside!
