So the morning of the Saturday is sounding pretty good!

I can't think of anywhere quiet enough that we could take up a table for hours and hours. Is shots very busy?

Nah, Shots is laid back and quite quiet, it targets more of a office worker crowd... all the hipsters are in Beaufort st on the weekend ;-)

So shots on Saturday morning, maybe 10am?

I don't think any newbies have expressed interest but we could still wear a certain colour to be easy to spot :-) I'm thinking pale blue this time?

I'll be there! (Possibly slightly late as I will need to go to the markets first). I will bring my Space Invaders-themed cross stitch work to do!

I don't seem to have gotten a parking ticket. I think I need to bring a day's worth of food next time, given how long we talk for!

Hooray for no parking tickets! :)

It was lovely to see you all again and chat about stuff. Looks like I should look into research panel at some point, as well as the entertainment book. And maybe I should crack a shot at selling stuff on eBay... not that I have that much to sell, TBH.

I do think when it's not the height of summer we should try a picnic meal, given how long we seem to chat. They can be good fun, and rather frugal if you are clever about what you bring. It just doesn't seem to be something young adults in cities do, for some reason (but do in regional areas. Go figure). And trying to accommodate everyone's dietary requirements/preferences can be a fun challenge, if you have the right attitude!

Or maybe find a cheap restauraunt. Sounds like Annalakshmi may be fun if everyone can cope with spicy food; Govinda's I don't think opens on weekends???

It was lovely to see you all again and lovely to meet you MissBee.

How about a dinner BBQ at Hyde Park (the park not the pub). From say 4pm til it gets dark. The worse of the sun should be over by 4pm and then we can all show off our BBQ skills? That would be a lovely Saturday night. We could all have a few adult beverages too if we want :) The BBQ's at Hyde park actually work, unlike at some other places and are free :)

Sounds like we should have a second meet up in January?

Also, how did everyone else go with the heat? We had our aircon on all night.

My aircon doesn't get to my room, and I have no fan... however I did manage to get to sleep by some miracle!

I probably won't be able to come to a BBQ any weekend in January at this stage-- my weekends are absolutely chockers for the next little while. I hope you guys have fun! :)

I can do this Sat at 4.30-ish, I have something else finishing at 4.
Hyde Park? Near the mosaic / water playground?
Do we need a colour scheme (is anyone new coming)?

Well I've just been prescribed medication which came with the instruction "do not under any circumstances allow yourself to get sunburnt". So given it's now forecast to be 38 degrees on Saturday and we're talking about 4pm i.e. daylight hours, I think I'll be giving this one a miss too :-(

But I'd love to organise a meetup at shots on the lake on a day that would suit everyone - maybe very end of Jan / start of Feb?

Hmm, I only thought this Saturday would be good as killingxspree said she'd be in Perth. I don't like the idea of venturing outside in the heat either. Could we do another inside one? A BBQ might work better in March.

**feels a bout of too much effort coming on...**

Although I was thinking I should show my grocery receipts to someone here... Sooner is probably better than later...

Well I'd be very happy to meet up for a coffee on Saturday morning at shots on the lake if anyone is interested in that instead of / in addition to the BBQ?

Anatidaev I can bring along my menu planner template when we next meet and see if that's something you would find helpful.

Would anyone be interested in borrowing some books?

Next time I am at a meetup, I am happy to show and/or lend out for a month a few of my books. Saves people purchasing the same things! You'll notice that I like gardening and random food stuff...!

Please let me know if anything appeals an I'll bring it along.

- 'Sustainable food'/Michael Mobbs (got a lot of stuff on gardening for small areas... plus the town planning stuff is just plain interesting)
- 'A guide to the Bibbulmun Track'/Bibbulmun track foundation. I have booklets for northern and southern halves
- 'Bushwalking in Australia'/Chapman and Chapman (Has a few guides for classic WA walks in it)
- 'Down to earth'/Rhonda Hetzel (Nice present from someone. From the blog of fame)
- 'Stephanie Alexander's Kitchen Garden Companion' (which is mostly recipes with some gardening information in it
- 'The Art of Fermentation'/Katz and 'Wild fermentation'/Katz- Useful if you want to try your hand at more than ginger beer and yoghurt
- 'Whole Larder Love'/Rohan Anderson
- I also have the most recent Fowler's preserving book
- And two wild edible plants field guides

Am happy to bring anything along just so they can have a look, and/or borrow up to a month or so (EXCEPT the wild edibles field guides)

Let me know if this would be useful for anyone and I'll bring some books along!

Heh, books are a bit of a vice for me... the problem is the most of these books are NOT the sort the community library down the road stocks. Mum and I both made an agreement several years back to purchase only one cookbook per year or less and have kept each other to it.

About half of these would be presents. My friends and family know me too well.

The food ones are right up my alley. Bibbulmun is also near my boyfriend's family home. As for the wild edible field guides, maybe that could be something for a foraging Perth meet!

Right then, I'll bring some along later then (I won't be going to any further meets in January)

Foraging food meet could be an interesting experience!

(Although it is the wrong time of year for this now-- best time is autumn/winter in Perth. Things like wild lettuce are about at the moment, but are old and shot to seed and have spiky spines at the moment. Same deal with wild brassicas. Bleurgh.)

Yeah, the weather is too hot now for foraging I think, we had a 43C day today in Victoria! I'm still in Melbourne at the moment but I'm likely to be in Perth in winter - maybe late July to early August.

Well I think I'm responsible for confusing everyone so I've decided it's my job to clear things up :-P

How about: everybody goes ahead and has a BBQ in Hyde Park from 4 on Saturday, given that this seems to work for most people (and the painfully white i.e. me can just skip this one) - also, there's at least one new person coming according to this thread so a colour scheme will be necessary;

and

We organise a Saturday morning coffee in Northbridge for later on, maybe Feb 1st?

In regards to a Saturday morning coffee in Northbridge, could we possibly do Sat Feb 8 instead of the 1st?

I'll venture out on a limb and say bbq doesn't seem popular on a 38 degree day. We'd still like to catch up does anyone want to nominate a cooler more airconditioned alternative?

I propose 2-5pm Saturday at shots on lake, this would suit me better. Colour: purple.

8th would also suit me better.

2-5 on Saturday sounds perfect, but I think shots is closed then (only open AM). Any other suggestions? If no one has a brainwave we can always do New Editions again?

8th should also be fine for me, thought I'll put my preference down for after 1pm.

BBQ can wait till Autumn!
