Well, there has been a change of plans. Last year I was going to drive across the Nullarbor, see all the wonderful things in the South West, and go to a Perth meetup. Things were changed (I wasn't wanted, and then I was, urgently), so I flew over, saw nothing and didn't go to the meetup. This time it was really going to happen. But I'm not wanted, and I need to be elsewhere. So I'm going to miss out again on seeing all you wonderful people. Maybe next year...

Then I won't visit my WA family if they don't want me, and I will not have all these urgent family things happening elsewhere. AND I WILL GO TO A PERTH MEETUP!!!

Sorry.

Im sorry you cant make it. Was looking forward to meeting you.
+1 bummer!

Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals, my honest opinion was that mine was fantastic! Zucchini and jalapeņo quesadilla - sooo cheesy and tasty. Juice was great too. Wasn't game to try a non-dairy coffee though! Seemed busy, friendly service, nice comfy vibe. It's a nice walk there from my house so I'll definitely be going again.

Awesome, glad to hear that. Quesadilla is also pretty popular indeed, I think the safest choice for coffee is definitely the soy, especially the one they use there is very smooth and "plain" (doesn't taste like soy at all for me), almond and rice are also good, they tent to make the coffee sweeter.
Just a friendly advice NEVER EVER USE COCONUT MILK, it simply doesn't work with coffee ;-)

I've tried coffee before with coconut (I agree - ugh), soy and almond milk. None of them did it for me. So I'm tempted to try rice milk when I go back :-)

Friends - are we still doing brunch on Saturday 1 October even though deborah can't make it (sob!)?

I don't do milk. And I just learned to drink black coffee (and my Italian friends approve... milk in coffee is reserved for breakfast it seems).

I dislike soy (always have) and find almond or hazelnut milk okay. But I just do black coffee ;)

Why not have brunch that day? We can still have a coffee in Deborah's honour:p

Correct, if you dare to order a a cappuccino after 9/10am in Italy they will give you a weird look... :-)

However, since I'm here, I drink coffee with any kind of milk (except coconut) pretty much 24/7....hopefully none of my friends is reading that

Well that's all nice in Italy, where they make good coffee to drink black. I drank long black all through Italy, sometimes even espresso. Can't have one here, though, there seems to be a 2/3 chance the coffee is burnt or overextracted or something and too bitter to have without milk. cloudnine soy coffee was... quite a nice drink, as long as you were not exactly expecting coffee. Smoothie was great.

(As an aside, do have a go making non-dairy milks... it's heaps cheaper, uses less packaging and is very easy if you own a blender).

I do think drinking black coffee has made me much much pickier, I agree. If it's black and been burned, then no amount of sugar will save it.

Have you made cashew milk stripey? If yes, is it blander than almond milk?

No because of all things I don't really like cashews (yes, I'm strange). I suspect if anything it would be richer than almond milk. It's a pretty cheap and easy experiment to try though.

I am 50/50 for the first. I have interstate friends visiting and a wedding to doll myself up for, but if the boys stay up late and sleep in i might be able to come for a coffee.

People, if there's anyone besides Happier and me around... Go to the Festival of Lights and eat Indian food in my stead. Gah I guess it's on my to-do list for next year.

If we don't set a date soon this will never happen...

I'm not free Saturday 3 Dec, but I'm still free Saturday 26 Nov, Sunday 27 Nov (which I think was when Melody was free), or Sunday 4 Dec.

Of course if we don't get around to finalising a date I'll end up making other plans for those days ;-)

Ugh I realised it's late November already.

Im confirming I'll be brunching at Food Monkey on 26th November from 9 am. Hopefully I won't be alone - I'll text Melody to make sure she knows.
