I don't know when MMM was swinging through Ottawa on his upcoming trip but if there is anybody up for a meet I'd be willing to host a potluck at my place or suggest a spot downtown.

Anybody? How about this spot (closed Canada Day because this is where they set off fireworks)?

When I saw the map ended at Ottawa I also thought of a meet-up.

I too happily offer up my place for a get together. I suppose we'll have to rock-paper-scissors it...

I'd love to be part of a meetup. I know that MMM was looking for people to be interviewed on CBC, maybe we can plan to meet up after that. It's nice to have some support for being awesome.

I just found this thread, I'm a part-time Ottawa resident (it's home, but I work up north, and spend some of my time off in the southern states). I'd love to attend a meet-up, was one ever held? If not, sounds like several folks are into it, even though we missed the MMM family.

Beav80, Matt K, are either of you still up for hosting a potluck? Or, a cheap restaurant would be a good idea too.

I'd love to meet some local Mustachians, I've been living the life for 20+ years now and am thrilled to see the concept gaining some momentum.

I just found this site/forum a few weeks ago. I'd be up to meeting fellow mustachians here in Ottawa if the get-together isn't located too far (my bike is my 'main' transportation method). I'm located in Aylmer (Quebec) and would be pleased to host a pot-luck or gathering at my place.

haha, I'm in Aylmer (parc Champlain). Moved across the river for the lower home prices. Keep an eye out for my hobo bike with a big green superstore box on the back :)

We'd like to set a meetup at the Ottawa Public Library, Main Library (http://biblioottawalibrary.ca/en/main/library/location/all-regions/branch-detail/MA) for 1:30pm on Sunday, November 8. We can simply meet in the main lobby and then we'll figure out where we can sit and chat about all the things early retirement.

You guys are troopers! It's actually an excellent time and location for anyone who's going to Remembrance Day ceremonies at the cenotaph downtown.

I won't be able to make it as I have prior commitment, but I hope it is but the first of many meetings for the Ottawa mustachians (and mustachian wanna-bes, in my case).

Good times meeting Ascend and Beav80, nice guys with lots of ideas to share. We did a little walk up to the parliament buildings discussing the MMM lifestyle and the impacts it has made on our lives. There was talk of doing another one of these to discuss "investing your stache" sometime this winter.

Bonus: we all biked to the meetup ... which reminds me i need to update that November challenge and catch that e-bike dude grrr

I'm outside of Ottawa -- down the highway on the St. Lawrence. So for me, it would be a ~200 km / 120 mi round trip.

This admittedly sounds very face-punchy. :D

But! Before unleashing a whoopin' on me, consider my mustachian car use:
- I'll be getting 90 to 100 MPG on the journey.
- And I don't typically drive much (haven't had to put gas in the car yet this year). Biking is my usual mode.

I'll be in Ottawa tomorrow - but for a memorial service for a friend who taught at Carleton. Don't think I will be up for a party after that. Maybe mustachians can get together again later this summer, since nice as it will be to have Mr. and Mrs. MM here, any excuse for a party is a good one, right?

Great company, great food, fabulous hosts… What else can be said? Kudos to Crista and her family for having so many people over in her lovely house.

I was glad to meet interesting individuals from various backgrounds; Hopefully there will be other opportunities in the future for people to gather.

It was cool to chat with MMM for a few minutes, although I got the impression that he seemed annoyed a bit (?). I noticed there were quite a few people who had discovered the blog over the last week and were asking him the typical questions (i.e. ‘Where do you get your income from?’, ‘Don’t you work or miss working in some way?’), so I can understand.
