Thanks for coming up with the options, PseudoStache!

My vote is for Athena Chicken (and not *just* because it seems to be the cheapest option, lol).

Oh man, I have not been on the forums for a few years. An Orlando group meetup that is somewhat regular? This is crazy.

Sadly I'll have to catch the next one, as I'll be out of town. Hope to meet everyone next month.

To lessen the chance that I'll forget to ask, was hoping we could discuss strategies for rebalancing. My 401k has gotten a little offtrack and I'm mulling my options over the best way to correct. Move funds around to match my desired allocation? Or change where future funds go to even it out? I know there's no one best way, but would give us something to talk about. :)

Forgot to ask, has anyone installed solar PV or recommend anyone for this?

Thanks again for organizing the meetup PseudoStache!

Posting to follow since we'll be in Orlando for a conference early November.  If there are any meetups at that time, would want to attend since considering a move to the area.

We're super flexible on our meetup dates, dragoncar, so if you just let us know when you'll be around, we can try to accommodate. We typically meet near the downtown Orlando-ish area one Sunday a month for lunch; if you're here for a conference, you may be further south closer to the convention center/hotels, but at least one of us lives further south--me! it's me!--and can figure something out.

We generally pick downtown-ish since it's fairly central - but a southwest meetup would be cool - unless dragoncar would like to explore Orlando outside of the covention/tourist space.

I believe there is at least one or two other members that live fairly close.

We are staying for a while to visit friends in Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, will probably be checking out various neighborhoods so not wedded to the convention center

Hey guys.  I  just bought a house in Citrus County and will.be using it as a vacation home till we FIRE and then we'll be there permanently.   Still living and working in Louisiana currently.   May be able to meet up on one of the trips down.

Well July is almost over.... but any interest in a Meetup next Saturday (7/28)?

Also: I just purchased a Community Pass ($99) to FinCon (https://finconexpo.com/) this September.  I'm not sure how many days I'll actually go, and it doesn't seem like you can attend everything, but if anyone else is going let me know.  Community Pass Info/Application: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdwh-SjV5IZ71eK0zRoAwESO3DuA7oUAn34rd-EX5gL_tbkPw/viewform

Welcome to the area Bateaux!

Thanks for posting FinCon info PseudoStache, have to look through the sessions in more detail, but cool to see that MMM will be there.

Summer is flying by! I'll be over in Clermont next Sat 7/28 morning, and might be able to meetup around lunchtime depending on location.

@PseudoStache, curious how long it took for you to be approved for the FinCon Community Pass? Submitted an application after you posted that, but haven't heard anything back.

Also, my timing is pretty up in the air on Sat 7/28. Maybe a Sunday another time!

This month got away from me... How's everyone's August looking?!

Roots, I believe it took at least 3 days for me to hear back... maybe more... and then 72 hours to use the code they sent me.

Thanks PseudoStache! Was starting to wonder if my application responses were insufficient, but got the FinCon pass approval email and registered. Looks like several interesting sessions.

For Aug, I should be around Sunday 8/12 or 8/26 if that might work for others too. And I thought of a backup alternate job idea for you!

Either Sunday should work for me.... anyone else?

Looks like FinCon will have a number of "familiar faces" speaking in the Money conversations track, so I will likely be there for Thursday and most of Saturday.  With the community pass I don't think you can really go to anything else other than keynotes/general sessions.

@Roots&Wings
Interested in finding out that that alternate job idea might be!

Mills50 is always a good option!

Let's  placeholder Mamak for now at 12:00 PM on 8/26

Good variety and good seating - one of the first places we met as an Orlando MMM group.

Mamak Asian Street Food
www.mamakasianorlando.com
1231 E Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32803

However, I would really love to try something new!

@lexde - Since it's your first meet, if you've got a place you want to try let us know - I'm sure you'll think we're awesome, but if not, at least you get a good meal out of it :)

@davenator - Looking forward to catching up!

I'm in!

Potential options (for the future; I'm totally cool with Mamak or anywhere else someone comes up with):
Noodles and Rice Cafe
https://www.noodlesandricecafe.com/
813 N. Mills Ave
Asian; some hot pot? I've never been so not responsible if it's terrible. :)

Hawkers
https://eathawkers.com/
1103 N Mills Ave
Asian street fare. Never been but have heard good things.

Tako Cheena
http://mytakocheena.com/
932 N Mills Ave
Asian tacos, burritos, empanadas. Went a long time ago and remember liking it but it was a little warm/stuffy (I'd like to think they've since regulated the temperature but who knows?).

White Wolf Cafe
http://www.whitewolfcafe.com/
1829 N Orange Avenue
Brunch. Better for a small group (four or less); there's usually a wait but totally worth it. Mmmm.

Black Bean Deli
http://blackbeandeli.com/
1835 E. Colonial Dr.
Cuban Cafe. Never been to this location, but used to work near the one on Mills (closed on Sunday) and it was delicious.

All of those sound great!  Hawkers is really good and is very similar to Mamak in terms of cuisine/food options.  My wife likes Hawkers better, but Mamak is generally not as busy as Hawkers and has good seating options for larger parties.

Black Bean Deli looks delicious - I don't think we've had Cuban/Latin yet?

Alas, I won't be able to make it after all. We need to take some things to the dump and pick up furniture from a friend's house on the way back, and this is the day our friend with a pickup truck is available.

Hope it's a good gathering!
