Well, it was very nice, but not what I expected.
I thought it should take me about 45 minutes to get there. Traffic was worse than I thought, so it took about an hour. When I got there it was really crowded. There was a large wedding party taking pictures, as well as a lot of other people enjoying the view.
I walked up and down the park, waiting to recognize someone, or for someone to recognize me with my black lab. Nope. So I sat down on the grass and watched the people. After a while Tad showed up, without wife and child. Said the toddler was sleeping and they didn't want to wake him. I could understand that.
We chatted for a while, wondering if we were the only ones to come. Tad suggested we walk the area again and see if anyone looked familiar. We did, and they didn't. So we sat down and started our picnic. Then Mike showed up and joined the picnic. And pretty soon Tad's wife and delightful toddler arrived.
At that point we must have been quite recognizable, so I stopped watching for any late arrivals. We had a nice time, sharing information and watching the toddler toddle.
My dog took a liking to Mike, and got a lot of petting.
it was heavily overcast by the time sunset was scheduled. We couldn't see the sun but we pretended. As it got dark we packed up our things and went home.
No idea where all the others were.
