Following along & joining the RVillage group. Nomadic in a truck camper + occasional AirBnB stints.

Checking in where everyone is. We became mobile again, and are (or were) slowly heading West. We've stopped a little longer in South Dakota than anticipated, after our motorhome decided that it might like a new transmission. We may move faster to Idaho, once/if we're moving again, to make up times for some plans, and then from there plan to head south to Moab meetup, and onto Arizona (maybe New Mexico on way)?

@CanuckExpat
We'll be near Dillon, MT for most of September and then slowly heading down the I-15 to Moab for the meetup there.  Might be hanging around that area for a bit before or after the meetup depending on what sounds like fun.  After that we booked a place in Phoenix for November and December.  January we wanted to head to Quartzsite for some of the RV rally's there.  After that the plans are unknown.  You guys are more than welcome to join us at any of our destinations or maybe start a caravan.

When you get to Phoenix give me a shout out.  We can have a meet-up.

We'll let you know once we arrive and get settled in.  You count us in for a Phoenix meet-up.

Do you have suggestions for RV storage in and around Phoenix, or anywhere nearby really? What should we be looking at for costs?

It depends.  If you are very general about the area, about 50 miles up 87 is a storage place that is not expensive.  It has the advantage of being located where temps don't get too hot or too cold.  FrugalZony knows more about it.  Otherwise, give me what you are looking for and I can try to help.  How long to store, etc.

@CanuckExpat we had to store our RV once while out of the country and found a very affordable place way out East of Phoenix.
They were cheap for the first month only. So if you need more than a month, it makes sense to shop around and price out your specific time frame.
As a rule of thumb, the further East or far West you go from Phoenix proper, the better the pricing.
We used Cost Less Storage, 2519 W Houston Ave, Apache Junction, AZ 85120
https://www.storage-solutions.org/storage/arizona/storage-units-apache-junction/2519-W-Houston-Ave-113

It was $20 for the first 30 days and I totally expected them to try and upsell or nickel and dime us, but they did not.
It really only was $20, after that first months it would have gone up to 60ish IIRC, that was for a non covered spot for a 32 foot class A.
They even had a dump station we could use when dropping off the RV and picking up again.

There's a bunch more places out that way.
I hope this helps a bit. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Who else is at RTR in Quartzsite, AZ this year? A few of us have connected and decided on a meetup: Find us Monday 1/14 at 1pm behind the bulletin board in a main area.
BYO chair, water etc.
Looking foward to meeting everyone.
Please help spread the word. See you there!

PTF, we'll be joining this group in 2020.  We're looking now at renting a RV in September for a week test run right after we get DD settled at college.  Any recommendations?  We were just going to do Cruise America.

I'm heading to Biosphere 2 in a few minutes from PHX.  I'm just heading down for the day, and may or may not go into Tucson.

I just saw this.  I was a whipped puppy after 2 tours with all the walking and steps and just crawled to the car and drove home.  Next time.  The biosphere was fun, but it hits a lot of my buttons.  For the first time I was truly sorry (for a few minutes) that I no longer have a sticks and bricks as I now want to do aquaponics (growing plants with fish).

Too bad, I'm not there this year.

I did get in one more great van trip after RTR last year... took 8 weeks to drive up to Alaska.  It looks like I can do a couple weeks in April... wondering if eastern Oregon is too cold then?

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
