Milwaukee area bike meetup/club
« on: February 17, 2014, 03:24:56 PM »
I'm interested in trying to organize a weekly riding group that's not about racing. So far the bike clubs I have found in Milwaukee are all pretty into racing, or only run during fair weather.

Any Milwaukee Mustachians potentially interested?

My schedule would let me do a ride pretty much any evening, ideally after 6:30-7PM. In my head, I'd like to have a set day of the week, and we'd ride to our ability. Right now I typically do 20-30 miles a ride but I'm flexible.

I am on the west side of the city proper (approx 76th and Burleigh). Reply here or PM me if interested.

Mods, I created this separate from the general Milwaukee meetup thread. Feel free to merge or let me know if that's not okay.

Thanks Russ, I'll have to check those out :)

I've only been to Madison twice despite living in MKE my entire life, but I'll definitely take you up on that if I'm ever out there and not goblin encumbered :)

I'm interested.  My current schedule dictates Monday nights.  PM me if you want to get it started and we can go from there

MilwaukeeStubble and I are now meeting up Monday nights at 6:30 at the bridge where the Hank Aaron State Trail crosses the river at approximately 37th and Canal (east of Miller Park).

PM me if interested, that way I know to expect someone else.

Have you guys met up for some riding? How far do you normally go and what time is it usually between?

Thanks!

We met up once two weeks ago, but not last week. 6:30 Monday night was when we met that time and we went about 90 minutes or so. Would have gone longer but the weather was awful.

Last Monday I rode by myself and did 50 miles, but I normally try to get 20 or so a day. The length and speed of rides really depends on who is there, and since we're just getting started, that's really up in the air.

Ok, that's cool and could work for me. I would just be coming straight from work.

So only Monday's work? I'm interested for sure. Haven't really biked that far in awhile, because I normally work out at a gym for the most part but it should be fine.

So far all road biking. My sole bike is a hybrid, so I can do rail trails and stuff, but no serious off road. I do occasionally envy the MTBers that go up and down the Menomonee River trail that runs parallel to the parkway in Tosa, but my aged MTB is more rust than anything at this point.

Hello folks!

I just 'met' Mr. Goblin Chief and started reading his nice blog.  I'd like to do some biking with some people in the area.  It seems that the Gob Chief is relatively close to me.  I'm in Butler (124th & Hampton). I don't have any set schedule for what would work best for meeting up, but with a fair amount of planning I could swing most days of the week.  Tonight I'm planning on biking to the in-laws for dinner, so we'll see how that turns out.  I haven't done any regular biking in quite a while, but I'd love to start and keep it going.  Let's see what we can get together for a group of casual bikers ;)

Currently MilwaukeeStubble and I meet Mondays at 6:30 where the Hank Aaron trail crosses the river by Three Bridges Park, roughly 37th and Canal. He's downtown, so it's a halfway point. Lately we've been riding west a ways, then doubling back and going out to the lake and up to Estabrook Park.

For shorter rides that stay west, the Oak Leaf has a few sections that are quite enjoyable rides. I just went from my house down to Greenfield Park hauling the kids. The section that goes from the end of the Menomonee River Pkwy west/northwest is also quite nice.

I've also been meaning to ride the Bugline sometime this summer:

Bumping this thread in case anyone is interested in meeting to do one-off riding before (or after) the snow comes. I can potentially meet most nights except Tuesday and Thursday with advance planning.

Necroing this thread for 2015's warmer weather season. Anyone interested in joining up?

We have no set schedule for this year yet. I can theoretically do any evening or daytime weekend slot, with a slight preference for weekend mornings.
