Baltimoron is a fairly common self-description for a Baltimorean...we tend to be self-deprecating :)

Baltimoron here

(Emphasis mine.)

Is that really what you guys call yourselves?

No offense intended, just curious. :)

Not like Baltimorean or something?  I know every city has their own (Like "Seattleites") but having "moron" in it seems odd...

Just picking on myself. I'm sure there's a less insulting, proper name.

Baltimoron is factually correct. ;-)

We have to pick on Baltimore. It's part of being a Marylander.

I may be a Marylander, but I'm not a Baltimoron!

The Wire might have popularized "Bodymore, Murderland," a bit unfairly.  But only a bit.

More to the point - I looked at the Google group link and it seemed like I needed a Gmail account to join.  I don't want to go on the Google grid just for that.  Is there some way around that?  Or can we keep discussion/announcements inside the forum?  Sorry to be a killjoy, but I don't like barriers to entry . . .

Y'all make sure to join the DC-area google group:   http://groups.google.com/group/dc-mustachians

I haven't been able to make it out to anything yet, but there have been a few meetups and they just went and toured the houses at Boneyard Studios, which is awesome.  We've got a pretty good little local group around here!

I'm in SE DC.  I have few barter-able skills.  I can paint and wash cars.  I'm working on other skills such as cooking and building wood things and simple wiring and plumbing repairs.

Late last year I found a fantastic apartment that is close to metro (Pentagon City) but well below market rent. I've never found a better price while still being close to metro and the city, definitely helping my savings rate. On March 31st my roommate is moving out, so I thought I'd post a note here to see if any other Mustachians were hunting for a place to live beginning any time in April. The place is a bit older and missing some amenities (e.g. dishwasher) which is how I get the lower rent, but everything you actually need works great and the price difference more than offsets in my opinion! I felt ridiculously lucky to find this place so I thought I'd share my good fortune if the timing worked for anyone, and a roommate who I could discuss Mustachianism with now and then would be pretty cool too.

The ad with details is at http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/roo/4385094997.html. If it looks like it might be a good fit drop me a line!
