Thoughts on location? I'm thinking we try and put one together soonish at a restaurant and then plan a larger one for the summer that's outdoors and a potluck.

That would be great. A weeknight is better for me. I'm going to throw out the date of Monday, April 30th near Millennium Park restaurants because I'll be in Chicago for work that day. :-) You can plan one for March sooner as well.

Waves....Do you know of any spots walkable from a Metra station? That might get the City folks out to the Western suburbs.

(ETA: I concur with Inaya; I work in Evanston so getting out to the west burbs after work on Metra would be kind of painful and I'd likely be quite late. I like coup's idea of a downtown meetup but CTA friendly in general would be awesome.)

Let me look into it. Unfortunately that part of the city is rife with $6 draft beer "specials". But there's plenty on the CTA that should suffice.

Another Chicagoan here! I don't think I'll be able to make 4/30, but I'm following this thread for future meetups. I remember a few years ago we did a meetup at Ogilvie in the food court.
I think there's also an MMM group on Meetup.com that sprung from this forum, though I don't know if it's still active.

Haymarket is a fabulous idea! They have baby beers so you can spend (and drink) as much or as little as you please. What time works for people? I can either come right from work or meet up later, so maybe around 5:30 or 6?

I posted a message on the meetup group page - hopefully the organizer will add it as a combined event. There are 210 people on that meetup group. Should we add it to the first post in the thread as a date?

Thanks - Should someone reserve a room/area at Haymarket? The last planned ahead Chicago meetup at a pub had a lot of people - luckily the bar had a room on the side no one was using.

Yes, I made it for 6 people at 5:30 because I am an eternal optimist. Looks like we have 4 people confirmed right now.

I am still hoping to be there - though, I realized this is the first workday after more than a week's vacation from work and I may come back to a mess. Will do my best to get out at a decent hour!

Great! If we end up extras, we'll just take over the bar area. Consider me confirmed as well - and I may be early because I hate working late.

I’ll be in a gray/light blue top with light gray sweater and black pants. I have med brown hair with some grey now that I stopped highlighting my hair. 5’6” and average size.

I am planning on dragging my still-jetlagged ass there but won't be there until 6 at the very earliest. I'm wearing all black with red tights (and a sweater with a big skull on the back) and I have purple hair so am probably hard to miss. ;)

Thank you SimpleCycle for organizing a great MMM event. We had about 12-14 people come for good food/drinks/conversation. It was great catching up IRL with people I know from the forums and also meeting a bunch of new people that don't go in the forums but do follow the blog. I'm looking forward to more Chicago events now that the weather is getting nicer.
