Baltimore/DC/NoVa meetup over the holidays?
« on: December 01, 2014, 12:27:28 PM »
Hey,

I'll be in Baltimore from roughly Dec 21-Jan 3 and would love to meet up with any MMMers from the area while in town.

Anyone interested in meeting up? Unlike my home, I can't exactly host something, but I'd totally be up for getting some drinks or whatnot somewhere in the area.

I am a new MMM person and would love to meet some more in the area. I would be happy to host people at my house in Havre de Grace but that might be a little out of the way for most people....I would also be happy to come down to the city.

any progress on this?

I live in Md almost exactly half way between DC and Bmore. I would probably be up for a meeting. i am working every day so it would have to be in evening.

Getting into town tonight and will stay a bit past New Years. I can probably meet up just about anytime at this point, but I have very little familiarity with places to meet up.

If someone local throws out a place and a date/time I will do my best to make it work :)

It depends on where you are staying ("Baltimore" means different things to different people) and if you have a car.

I'm staying dead in the city of Baltimore (Canton neighborhood specifically) but have a car and would be willing to drive as far as DC or NoVa, though on weeknights I'd probably rather not :P

Sorry for any ambiguity.

I can meet up in/near DC if you decide to come down this way, but Baltimore is too far for me without a car.

Will you have kids with you? If so, how about something like Zoolights http://nationalzoo.si.edu/activitiesandevents/celebrations/zoolights/ or the US Botanic Gardens conservatory http://www.usbg.gov/visit which is nice and warm and tropical? Both are free.

Pick a date.  If I'm free, I'll show up.

Seems like more folks are chiming in from DC/Md suburbs of DC. But as you mention getting down that far on a weekday can be a pain.

I'm running with the following assumptions - This week/weekend most are busy with family/holiday stuff.  We will do an evening/kid free meetup. Does this seem reasonable?

That being said how would Monday the 29 or Tuesday the 30th around 7:00 sound for meeting up for a beer or two? (or even dinner?)  I could suggest Captain Larry's in Federal Hill, Bertha's Mussels in Fells point, or Looney's in Canton. None are particularly "mustachain" or that special for that matter. But it's a couple non-chain bars/restaurants that I know of in the City. If you like Mussels/Seafood and would be interested in dinner (instead of just drinks) I would suggest Bertha's.

I think a meet up at someones house is more conducive to real conversation but don't know if we can make it happen on such short notice and with Holidays. I wish I had seen your post back on the 1st (just saw on 18th when I responded). Worst case if no one else is available I would not even mind just meeting up with you TGC. Talk to another SAHD and give you a break from the in-laws.

Anyone else in Baltimore area interested in something like this?

longwaytogoI'd be fine for either date at this point and an evening meetup for beer sounds great. I'm not a shellfish person, but if others want to that's fine. I am super flexible :)

I can brave traffic to get closer to DC if that works better.

Also thought I'd mention that we ran across a game shop that's having a board gaming party on New Years Eve that we might go to. It's Canton Games at 2101 Essex St in Baltimore.

The guy at the store said it's open gaming with a Pandemic tournament as well. $10/person but that includes food.
