Anyone in CT?
« on: October 06, 2012, 08:12:03 AM »
I see Boston and NYC meetings on either side of us, but I'm in central CT.  Anyone else?

Replying to bump this up again.  I know we're anti-social New Englanders here, but I've been seeing more contributors from CT lately and thought I'd give it another shot.

I'm near northern CT but I don't have a car. If you met closer to Hartford/Enfield I might be able to go. Alternatively I have family near New Haven...

Great!  Let's see if we can get a couple others on board and then plot our next move.

I'm in the Hartford area myself...let me know on venue ideas (picnic lunch at elizabeth park in hartford some weekend could be a mustachian option)

Oh, I like the Elizabeth Park idea, especially when they have their summer concert series (although that's over now).  Or a group hike or something on some of the local trails (metacomet, for example).

If you're meeting up in the Hartford area, I would love to join you! I'm in western MA so it's much closer for me to do a meet up in Hartford than Boston.

I think we may have enough people to have a Pioneer Valley meetup now. Maybe this summer?

That seems so far away as I stare out my window at the snow banks, but I'd gladly be in.

Summer or even Spring works...Elizabeth Park in Hartford could be a great place to meet up and have a pot luck picnic.  We could also coordinate around one of their free concerts.

Pioneer Valley folks -- are we ready to plan a meetup? CT folks, you're welcome to join us!

Not sure where everyone's at, exactly, so I'm going to suggest Northampton as a possible meeting place, but I'm open to suggestions.

Love that all the western MA folks are interested in getting together. Connecticut peeps, please join us if you are interested.

I'm guessing weekends work best for most people. What do you prefer for a meet up time:

Friday evenings
Saturdays (morning, afternoon, evening)
Sundays (morning, afternoon, evenings)

So for us central CTers that are looking for a local meetup - how about Elizabeth Park in Hartford, CT on Saturday, June 21st?  (This way hopefully tmac can unpack and come meet her new mustachian neighbors!) I'm thinking a pot-luck picnic lunch around noon.

Feel free to chime in with suggestions/comments/face-punches...

Elizabeth Park, Hartford, June 21 -- We're in, assuming nothing goes horribly awry with the move and we're not there yet. We're usually homebodies, so going somewhere to meet a bunch of "strangers" is a little out of my comfort zone, but it'll be good for us. It's on my calendar. :)

Anyone else? We'll have two kids in tow (8 and 10), so we'll bring some outdoor toys, in addition to food.

I would love a N'hamp meet up.  Fri evening would work great on my end.  Where's a properly mustachian location at which to meet? I was pondering this on my long commute to work today, so I'm glad to see some interest here tonight...

I'm also in for a meet up. I'm live just outside of New Haven.

I read Elizabeth Park, Hartford, June 21 in one post. Has there been any consensus around this date? I'll keep my calendar open incase things open up.

Bad news from Chops - I'm not going to be able to make the June 21st meetup :(  An immovable graduation ceremony for the gf is causing this...and she's mustachian so I need to hold on to her.  Sorry but hope everyone else meets up without me...

Hi all -- Not directly Mustachian, but closely related, I wanted to let you know about Hartford Minimalists.

We usually meet in Glastonbury on the 2nd Tues of each month, the FB announcement page (publicly visible, no FB account needed) for which is here: https://www.facebook.com/hartfordminimalists/

This month, we're meeting on Tues, Oct 14, in Hartford at MakeHartford, a makerspace/collaborative workspace. This month's topic is "Sharing Economy: MakeHartford and other minimalist resources." Details here:
http://tinyurl.com/m4h5tzr

In between our real life meetings, discussion and inspiration continue via our private FB group here:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1402832563300814/

I hope to meet you soon. Meanwhile, I'll keep an eye on this thread and also possibly come to the next CT Mustachian gathering.

(Similar message cross-posted to Western MA thread because, you know, the more Minimalist Mustachians, the merrier!)

I'm near New Haven. Anyone looking to meet up? I bet the lot of us have pretty similar ideas. Bet we could share ideas or team up and kick the can to FI a few years earlier as a team.

I vote for a holiday meet up beginning of December.

I'd like to shoot for later in January to give other people a chance to see this and join us. How about sometime the last 2 weeks of January? I can be flexible on dates, but evenings and weekends are best. Can't meet Thursdays though.

I'll be at the meeting in West Hfd next weekend. I used to go regularly, missed the last few months, but plan to be there again this month.
