I'm going to go ahead and throw some ideas out for places to meet and we can come up with a date.

For me, any day(besides Thursday) works after 7pm. Weekends are a bit more hectic due to family, car repairs and house renovations. So a weekday would work best, but I'm down for whatever.

Fairview-
El Arepazo - Colombian/Salvadorian food.  Great food at great prices and usually slow during the week.
https://m.yelp.com/biz/el-arepazo-y-pupuseria-fairview-park-3

Fairview-
Sauced Pizza - ordered from there before and it's quite good. Not cheap but better than crappy $5 pizza. No alcohol.
http://www.saucedwoodfiredpizza.com/index.php

Cleveland-
Platform Brewery. Cool place. Mainly $5 pints.
http://platformbeerco.com

Lakewood-
Buckeye Beer Engine. Also a cool place with decent food and a good selection of brews.
http://buckeyebeerengine.com

There are, of course, a thousand other places we could meet. I'm just throwing ideas out there for anyone to chime in and get the ball rolling.

El Arepazo sounds great to me - I have never been there.

To summarize all suggestions, what do people think about:
6:30-9pm, at El Arepazo, Monday, April 17?

If we put something on the calendar, we are more likely to get together :)

If anyone is super eager to join but absolutely cannot make this time, please suggest alternatives.

I imagine that after getting to know each other at El Arepazo, we all may want to do something more mustache-an, like a picnic in a metro park in summer

I'll pencil in that day. Will double check with DW.
And yes, El Arepazo has really good food ;)

I'm over on East side, so the proposed location is a little far for me, but not sure I could make it next month anyway.  Work is quite busy.  Maybe most of the people on the forum are West siders.

As another suggestion, it might be possible to book a conference room at a library which would be free.  Just an idea for possible spots

I would be OK if we meet at one of public libraries - that would be in the MMM spirit :)

And I am also on the East side. It is not ideal for me to meet on the West side, but I would do it.

I will pencil it in as well for 4/17 and see if anything changes as we get closer.

I live within walking distance of this restaurant so I have no excuse to not go. East siders, it's not hard at all to reach as long as there aren't any traffic jams.

Take I480W
Get off at the Clague Rd. Exit.
Make a right on Clague Rd.
Make a right on Lorain Rd.
Watch our for W228th St. on you right.
Make a right on W228th St. It is on the corner of Lorain and W228th.

If there is no parking behind the restaurant, you can park on W228th St. It is residential.

I'm down to go to a library or the restaurant. Either one works for me.

I'll be honest and say it will be kind of unusual to meet a bunch of strangers in a library, reason being that it's a quiet/formal place and any awkwardness will not be easily masked as it would in a more opened locale.  Kind of like the first day of school in your homeroom class as opposed to the playground.

But seriously, I'm down for either one.

I was thinking the same thing and I disagree with he folks who say meeting at a restaurant is anti-MMM. Unless the meal is way outside our normal spending and doesn't become a daily occurrence I think it falls into the "ok" category.

Hey, does anyone know anything about that used bike shop on Lorain down toward Fairview? It looks like it's either super shady or super awesome.

You mean the one by Kamm's Corner?  Yeah, dude's kind of an ass. I went there once and he just pretty much ignored me while I was browsing. I asked if he ever came across older BMX bikes and he just shook his head and went back to his phone. So needless to say, I won't spend my money there.

The one on Lorain and 90th is good and the one on W25th too. Usually Craigslist is the way to go.

I was perusing CL, and it seemed like half the postings were from that shop in the first place (even when I filtered for private sellers). Had to sift through lots of crap to not really find anything.

As an aside, anyone want to trade a Gary Fisher Joshua F4 for something more practical?!

Who could have predicted the initial response was that it was really an option for you to show up like that?  I think if you commit to the orange tux, commits to attend will spike up.  Would certainly be memorable.

@NoStache, sucks is an understatement.  Glad to hear you are navigating the system to get as much timely info as possible.  Not knowing what a diagnosis might mean and how much it changes your/wife's future outlook is really tough.  Sending out positive thoughts, agree to let us know if we can do anything.

Thanks all, ironically, we'll be literally around the corner on the 17th at Fairview. Hopefully we'll know more at that appointment.

@craigle thanks for offering, we don't really need anything right now, it's just the waiting. Fortunately, I work at the CCF mothership, so everything is fully covered. I can't imagine what it must be like to go through this and also worry about insurance. I should probably stop bitching about them increasing the rates and copays by what is (in reality) token amounts.

I am in for April 17 6:30 pm meet up.
Does anyone know the situation about parking at that restaurant or about public transport that goes there?
Should we have a sign "MMM" or something on the table? Is there anyone who lives close by and can come at 6:30 sharp with such a sign? Or maybe someone who knows that place well can recommend what's best? (which table we should gather at, etc.)

NoStacheOhio, I am very, very sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed for as smooth treatment and recovery as it can get.

Man I'm going to sound so unMMM but I have been there quite a few times and have made a decent relationship with the owner's son, who happens to be a waiter.  On my defense, dinner for three is <$13, so yeah, not too bad lol. My 3.5yo son loves their food, so I don't mind it either.

I can be there right at 6:25pm and ask them to set up a table. Being a Monday, I don't think it will be busy.

There is parking out back and on the street, so plenty of parking. Specially if there isn't a sports game because the restaurant next door won't be too busy.

Regarding buses, it's Lorain Rd so plenty of buss go by. If I'm not mistaking there is a bus stop a few blocks over.

I usually get chicken pupusas but they are phenomenal, so I'm thinking all else is just as good.

I'll not further belabor my point on the orange tux, but it is an elegant solution.

That's a lot of NEOhio winters!  I sold a 2000 Tacoma last year, it was having multiple failures and was too difficult for me to work on due to rust.  Now I pull a utility trailer with my hatchback (which is not 10 years old).

I'm not here to judge, just observe, learn, and hopefully contribute.  I'm more interested in people's stories and motivations than what they are driving, but I do assume older vehicles and hatchbacks will predominate compared to an "average" cross-section of the population.

Haha I'm  actually just playing. I do some unMMM things but I do them knowingly and within the budget. For example, eating at El Arepazo because it's a good, family owned place with cheap food. So although I could learn how to make pupusas, and at one point I will, I don't mind spending the $2.75 for one once in awhile.

It's all about having the understanding and applying the knowledge to your financial and personal lives. Those little changes make bigger ones rather quickly. It will be nice to sit down with like minded people ;)

This thread blew up since I checked this morning. I'm glad to see more people have committed to doing this.

Craiglegpaige, do you know if the restaurant has any gluten free options? I might bring my wife if she feels like joining us but she is gluten intolerant.

I unfortunately have to bow out from this meetup too. Just found out that I will be traveling bright and early Monday morning for work - hope you all have a good time and that we can schedule another event in the near future.
If it's free, I'll take three!

Since this is actually turning into an event that looks like it WILL happen (versus the many other attempts to get anyone together), I may have to make an effort to participate.  Still a bit up in the air but I'll put some serious planning into seeing if I can make it.  Will keep everyone posted.  Great to see it looks like a good handful of folks.

I will be there. I may be the only one, but even if so, I will happily eat some good food on the cheap and enjoy the moment ;)

Sucks about the job. Hopefully once we get this one under our belts we can make a bigger effort into scheduling other ones, specially in a MMM way ;)

I am planning to be there too. If craiglepaige is the only one, how will I find/recognize you craiglepaige? I am a female with dark-frame glasses, long hair, and no facial make-up whatsoever. I'll come with my husband.

Did you find the other thread where we all confirm we're going and then go somewhere else?  Dammit.

Craiglegpaige, do you know if the restaurant has any gluten free options? I might bring my wife if she feels like joining us but she is gluten intolerance.

I called the restaurant and asked about Gluten and was answered with a, "I'm sorry, what?". So needless to say I don't think they are gluten free. I'll be honest and say I'm not hip to gluten so maybe there is something in the menu that your wife could eat but not really sure. Is the menu available online?

As far as as seating, I told the guy on the phone about the planned visit on Mondayand he said to call about 1/2 hour ahead so he could set the tables. We will be seated to the left as you walk in. The place is small, so you won't miss the tables.

Thanks for checking in to that! I couldn't find a menu online. I'll just come solo. If the restaurant isn't aware of what gluten is, it's probably safer for her to avoid their food until we have a better understanding of the ingredients that are used.
