in one of the other threads here, someone posted a chart that showed what your investment returns would look like had you invested just prior to the next major stock market correction/crash. can someone post it again?

Do you mean this one?http://awealthofcommonsense.com/2014/02/worlds-worst-market-timer/ (http://awealthofcommonsense.com/2014/02/worlds-worst-market-timer/)

You don't mean this, do you? E.g., if you look at some particular point on horizontal axis (like 40 years out), you can see that the range outcomes runs from just over $500,000 to nearly $2,500,000. (That's one way to view the risk of a portfolio.)
Or another way to view the risk is using the vertical axis to see the range of years required to reach some portfolio value like $500,000... the chart suggests best case you're looking at about 15 years and worst case maybe 37, 38 years.

This came out of the blog post I did here: https://evergreensmallbusiness.com/myth-long-run-stock-market-return-chart/
Which was basically in response to this MMM thread: https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/investor-alley/unreliability-of-long-run-stock-market-returns/

Yes I like the visual - kind of reassuring that (historically at least) the market tends to begin an upward direction within 1-3 years of a downturn. Puts it in perspective if we are in it for the long haul.

where's that chart that shows what the stock market has done with all the little "world events" placed along the time horizon? it shows WW2, vietnam, 9/11, black monday, great recession, etc.
