Title: Vanguard brokerage within IRA - minor optimization or am I missing something
Post by: slugsworth on July 29, 2016, 12:15:48 PM
A few years back, I contributed to a Roth IRA, but after realizing that a traditional IRA was more advantageous (per mad fientist blog) it has sat there with only one years contribution in it.  Consequently, I have under $10k in the Roth and have it sitting in VTSMX (expense ratio .16).  I think I can set up a brokerage account inside the Roth and purchase the ETF with an expense ratio of .05. I know this is a minor difference especially given the >$10k number ($1 per $1000 if I'm doing my math right), but I wanted to know if I'm correct and should make the change.

Thanks experts!
