It does look like S&P 4500 is going to take a little longer…. Of course, the 52 week low (in the midst of this crazy COVID rally) was ~3200!

I have money going in this week. S&P 500 at 4500 can take as long as it wants. If it wants to dip below 4000 for awhile, that's also totally cool.

Ok. Fine. But this time, Top is really in.
I meant this time. I meant this time it is really in.

It it possible we've been having practice tops or top drills?

Fun day today! (S&P 500 down 0.71%) I hope tomorrow is just like it - I have a 401k contribution going in.

I hope it's worse than today. Then we'd clearly know top was in.

And I love being a wageslave

@solon @PDXTabs, I'm usually a jesting bear, but with what's going on in the world, I don't see things looking rosy in the near term at least. Last year we had quite the ride from highs in August into October.

I mostly agree. But if the stock market can hit record highs during the depths of a global pandemic, what's going to stop the Fed put now? Perhaps actual sustained inflation? But I agree, perhaps the market has gotten ahead of itself and I would welcome some discounted equities for my 26 buys per year.

If you can figure out how to click buy while holding your phone upside down you can invest in equities which have never been more undervalued.

so... I can sell all my equities, turn my phone upside down, buy at all time lows, then turn my phone right side up, then sell at all time highs?? Is this how market timing works? Why is everyone so opposed to this on this forum? Seems pretty fool proof.

Just got a brilliant idea ... could arbitrate time zones by moving close to a boarder. Then check ticker prices in the later time zone, move quickly to the earlier time zone and place buy orders on anything that is about to go up!

My favorite discussion of the week was with an acquintance who's a patent attorney. I tried 'splaining NFTs to him. At first he couldn't understand because he literally could not imagine that anyone meant something that stupid (or at least, that empty of rights and other elements of "existence"). Then he finally realized what I meant. Once he got it we laughed our butts off. Now he swears he's going to start a company that makes NFTs.

2021 feels like it's been a lot longer than most years, so maybe we've just had more time to hit all-time highs than we usually do between January and August.

It's hard to argue with your logic. I'm cashing out now and waiting until next year to reinvest. Or 3 decades from now. What could go wrong?
