S&P 500 up almost another 0.92%.

The market just "shot to the top" over the covid vaccine news...

After much soul-searching I am no longer going to follow the prophet Thorstach's teachings that "The Top Is In."

Instead, I have been enticed by the noted economist from Ridgemont who aptly, in this iconic film clip, demonstrates the market is topless.

I just take comfort in knowing that markets are rational and perfectly price in all underlying fundamentals and risks. And when the top is truly in, I know that it is time to panic, let fear run rampant, and sell, sell, sell until the bottom is in.

It is really the most incredible number. I said 30,000 in front of an MIT professor once and he was amazed I knew a number that big!

Is it possible to get bigger; to embiggen? I'm no wiz kid but it seems like you could add one to 30,000 and get 30,001. Then do it again and get 30,002! How far does it go?

I thought the top was in, but then I hit a new top and another and another...

It's nothing but tops around here.*

*Except for hours of daylight. I predict a daylight bottom in 17 days.

The Top is In, but not by much.    Like Sophia Lauren, I'm pretty sure I may not notice a bottom for some days.

Every bull run starts at a top. I am curious: does this current setup seem a bit like when Obama took office after a financial crisis and we then we had a long paced climb up?

This is probably not the thread for serious discussion, but I don't know what I'm talking about...so...

When Obama came into office the larger economy was in shambles and major institutions had failed, and a couple had even been nationalized. And the market reflected that, IIRC. This time around, the big companies seem to be doing just peachy so far and the stock market has gone gangbusters while small businesses and individuals are feeling the pain.

Um...   There's a difference between a company being nationalized and the government asking for a seat at the table since they ponied up so much money -- and then when they were repaid getting the heck out of the way again.

@Steeze : from a time before yours:

lol, of course "maizeman" would get so sucked into a discussion about corn that he forgets to even mention that the TOP IS IN.

Beware of GMDs (Genetically Modified Dividends) and artificial earnings flavorings, as the dead cat meltup renders most starches especially vulnerable to derivative fungi. Top is in.

There are many types of meltup, so beware :-)

Everyone knows that ham and cheese on sourdough is the correct way to diversify your sandwich portfolio. Roast beef is too correlated.
