So I am appoaching 6 months at a new job and at that point will be able to start contributing to 401k through this company. I plan on maxing out the 401k amount and my wife and I currently are in a situation that looks like this: We have about 40% of our savings in vanguard US stocks, 40% in Roth IRA and 20% in 401K. Of all the choices I have for where to put this 401K money I've narrowed it down to three options.
Option 1, Vanquard Small-Cap Index Acct. They don't have a vanguard large cap option. My thoughts are it is hard to beat a aggressive stock portfolio for long term growth.
Option 2, Vanguard REIT index Ret acct. My thoughts are I don't have any money in real estate and more diversity might be smart.
Option 3, Vanguard Target Retirement 2060 Ret acct. My thoughts are that this is the longest out therefore most aggressive (I plan on retiring 2028) choice where they diversify for me.
Please give me some direction. I could do some of each of these too by the way. I need to decide by mid July. Thanks for any help.
