« on: June 11, 2014, 08:51:53 AM »
Has anyone tried using mechanical systems/services to swing trade the indices?

I was just checking out this service, [MOD EDIT: Spam deleted.].

Any thoughts?

Read that topic first. I trade a mechanical system myself but just from my own experience as well as every other trader I know, you won't make money off of someone else's system. The reason why is my response in the previous thread.

I know that's discouraging because you probably got your hopes up looking at the performance page of the website. And I admit, it's enticing. But you'll never make the big money trading someone else's system. As well, I'm willing to bet the performance page lists BACKTESTED results, not real time results of a real money portfolio. A big difference.

The only way you'll make money from a mechanical system is if you do the necessary research and homework yourself to gain the conviction you need to stick with the system. In other words, you'll need to spend thousands of hours of deliberate practice learning how to trade and what types of systems make money over the long haul. I was like everyone else in the beginning, just wanting someone to tell me what to buy and sell and I'd magically make money. But it doesn't work that way. Eventually I had to decide to learn it all myself, and it's no different for anyone else.

On the contrary, if their returns are not performing as stated, their subscribers would simply cancel. I can see how your personal returns may vary from the newsletter's (probably in a slightly negative way), but they must be representative of the stated returns.

My thoughts are it's interesting and noteworthy when someone registers an account and their first two posts are for the purpose of mentioning a business, and then defending it.

Oh look, the domain was registered by a guy @ [MOD EDIT: Site deleted to not give this guy any traffic.  Thank you.].  And the OP is named... waaaaait a minnit.
