Self-Directed IRAs
« on: May 19, 2014, 02:52:43 AM »
Anyone here experienced in investing through self directed IRAs?  I learned about them through a client (I have a property management co) who owns some buildings through one.  My understanding from doing a bit of reading, is that you have to basically have sufficiently large amount before you can roll your IRAs into one if you want to invest in real estate like I do.

I know of Equity Trust.   Are there better or cheaper alternatives?   I think they have pretty hefty fees for transactions but don't know of any good alternatives.

Your fellow San Diegan, Jeff Brown, puts his clients in another company that's cheaper and gives the client "check book control."  Bawldguytalking.com.  He will tell you some great stories about investing in San Diego real estate since the 70's as well.
