my treasury note has not paid out
« on: June 02, 2025, 08:37:30 AM »
So I have an individual treasury note in my vangaurd ira rollover. The last coupon date was May 30th and maturity on the 31st.

It hasn't paid out on the coupon, and it has not been redeemed. I'm confused as to what could be going on since I expected it would all happen Friday, then checked over the weekend too and now today nothing.

Any ideas what is going on? These usually just go through on the last trading day of the month, not hanging over days into the next. At least the coupon interest goes through, I have not had many mature so not sure of actual dates. treasurydirect always does it after the close of the last trading day. This has me a little spooked to be honest.

And the last of my questions: am I going to get some interest off this delay in redemption?

Is there a rollover setting and you're going to get a new note at the next auction?

Thanks - did not think I did but I combed over the holding on vanguard's site in case I did by accident, and don't see any way to make that indication.

But even if I had said to reup, I should have gotten the last coupon paid out on 5/30, right? and I didn't. I did ask some questions via the CS chat, they gave me a number I will call tomorrow it it doesn't resolve overnight.

I've googled up the cusip, but no info. Seems a bit crazy.

This finally resolved overnight.

the interest was backdated to 5/31, and the redemption dated 6/2, although niether of these were there at about 8 pm last night.

Not sure if this was a little glitch at vanguard or the usual payout when not in treasury direct, but I have 2 other notes set to mature during the first half of 2026 that were suppose to be lived off of. Note to self to let a week's wiggle room in there to get redeemed and into checking account before counting on the money for bills. just in case.

Thanks for posting this @mistymoney . At first I wondered if this was the first sign of an accidental default by the US treasury. Instead, it appears to be your brokerage holding onto your interest payment for a day or two (perhaps earning interest in the overnight markets) before crediting your account. I think they earn a day's interest on customers' interest and dividends, and it's part of why they can afford to let you trade ETFs for free.

Yeah - I was a bit worried given everything gooing on, and because I have a lot in treasuries right now.

hopefully just vanguard.
