Moving from Degiro to Flatex -- question about new ETF
« on: August 11, 2021, 03:20:23 AM »
My current broker (Degiro) got bought by another broker (Flatex) and closes its operation in my country at the end of September. Thus, I need to change my broker.

After researching my options, these are my top 4 brokers (most important point for me was having as little fees as possible):
  • flatex
  • interactive brokers
  • trade republic
  • smartbroker

Without going into too much detail, I decided to go with flatex. The only real fee they have is a 5.9€ fee (flat) on dividend payments (and a nice bonus is that they do your taxes for you -- which was not the case with my previous broker).

Currently, I hold 3 positions:

Flatex offers ~150 ETF which you can buy for free (listed here: https://www.flatex.at/geldanlage/anlage/premium-etfs/). My current ETFs are not available in this special offer, thus I have to switch to a new ETF.

I'm thinking about replacing my first two ETFs with this one: https://www.justetf.com/at/etf-profile.html?isin=IE00BGHQ0G80
It's an accumulating one, which is nice because I would save on dividend payout fee. Furthermore, it's relatively large in terms of size (1.000kk). My only problem why I'm not 100% convinced that this is a good choice is because of the relatively high running fee: 0.25% (instead of 0.15% with my current one).

Do you think this ETF would be a reasonable choice as a all-world ETF?

How much does it cost to buy your favorite ETF at Flatex?

You have 75% in HSBC MSCI World UCITS ETF USD, which I think costs 0.15%/year? Switching that to Xtrackers MSCI AC World UCITS ETF means a higher 0.25%/year cost.  So over 10 years, that's 1% in higher expense ratios.

Is the commission for the non-free ETF more than 1% of your purchase?

Might also be worth comparing Interactive Broker's fees with Flatex's commissions.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
