More VTSAX or add VFIAX
« on: January 27, 2021, 08:27:19 AM »
I'm just curious if it's worth having both VTSAX which follows the entire stock market and VFIAX which follows only the top 500 companies (S&P 500).

For example, for simplicity sake, let's say I contribute $10 every paycheck to VTSAX.  And I want to start contributing $15 every paycheck.

Should I just dump the extra $5 into my existing VTSAX or would there be a good reason for dumping that $5 into a VFIAX account?

Since VTSAX already covers the 500 in the VFIAX, as well as mid and small cap funds, is it worth it?

thanks

Stick with VTSAX. Their returns are very similar, with VTSAX gaining slightly more over the past decade, and VTSAX holds mid and small cap as you mentioned.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
