Remember 1997, when Yahoo was THE internet search engine/portal/cool place to go on the internet and Google didn't even exist?  The Yahoo hype was ridiculous.

Someday, there may be a practical and widely accepted digital currency.

But there's a good chance it won't be Bitcoin or Ethereum or any of the other "me too" currencies that currently exist.

My bet is that in 20 years, Bitcoin will be in about the same position as Yahoo today (basically, in the toilet), and that some other digital currency that probably doesn't even exist yet, will be the leader (the Google of digital currency).

This is why I want a crypto backed ETF to invest in as a nice little diversified part of a entire portfolio. It is difficult to guess which one is going to take off.

I don't know which one of these it will be. Either the price climbs to heavens as it does currently for the few past months or it drops because of another crypto on the market which will be more attractive to everyone.

Could someone attack bitcoin with a sort of denial of service thing where they attempt to send bitcoins to invalid accounts or from invalid accounts or something that screws with the blockchain and miners but doesn't result in a valid transaction?   My very limited understanding is that the miners are actually checking constantly to see if transactions are valid, so they must have to spend some amount of time validating invalid transactions too?
