Asset Strategy Question
« on: May 07, 2014, 11:16:27 AM »
Hello all .. my hubby and I have been earning to spend and we've recently switched over to saving to live!  I'm currently looking at our 401K investments and wanted some feedback on the allocations.

My 401K - 330K (95% Stock, 5% Bonds)
Hubbys 401K - 150K (75% Stock, 25% Bonds)
I have an inherited SEP IRA that is 110K and entirely in bonds

So apprx 20% of our portfolio is in bonds.

We are in our late 40's and hoping to be FIRE in the next 5-7 years.  My hubby's company will match 401K contributions 100% for the first 20% contributed.  His 401K plan is with Vanguard and he has a ton of options.  I do not have any bond fund but there are Retirement target funds where the allocation of assets is mostly bonds if the retirement target year is sooner rather than later.

I am a fairly risk tolerant person .. or I have been but my thinking was always that we were 20 years away from retirement!  I realize that I have to adjust my thinking and our asset allocation as well.

Thoughts would be appreciated!
