401k Rollover FOMO
« on: December 15, 2017, 01:09:25 PM »
Just started with a new employer and initiated my 401k rollover more than a week ago and I'm still waiting on the check to forward to my new 401k administrator.

The good news? New employer has their plan through Vanguard, with institutional funds offered.

Bad news? I'm missing out on SO much gains since my funds have been liquidated! ~$90k pre-tax invested which makes up almost half of my total net worth, and of course the market has been making a killing the past couple weeks with the nearing of the tax plan being passed.

How do you deal with FOMO while waiting out the long process of a 401k rollover? I cant stop thinking that just today the S&P 500 is up 1%, meaning I just missed out on $900 in gains. In this day and age, is there really no quicker way to roll over funds between financial institutions?! More of just a rant, but makes me feel better to vent lol!

You can lever up outside of your 401k to maintain your desired asset class exposure.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
