DC area folks: Possible Dates for Picnic in Washington, DC
« on: June 14, 2013, 07:58:15 AM »
I would love to host a Mustachian picnic/gathering at Meridian Hill Park (aka Malcom X Park) in Washington, DC. Would anyone care to join me? Please vote in the poll to indicate which dates are best for you. You are allowed to vote for more than one date, so please vote for all the dates that would work for you.

Meridian Hill Park is located between 15th and 16th Streets NW and between Euclid Street and Florida Avenue. If you can't bike to the park, it may be helpful to know that it is a short walk from the Columbia Heights metro and multiple bus lines.

Excellent initiative jfer! You couldn't pay enough to try and get through the tourist crush to go somewhere in the city the weekend of the 4th, but the other dates are great.

Fletch-- you make a great point about July 4th! There wouldn't be a tourist crush for me since I can walk to this particular park, but for others this could be a big issue.

It's also worth mentioning that you would be welcome to bring significant others/kids too.

I only voted for the first two dates because I'm *probably* going to be going to South Sudan for work in a few weeks and be gone during July, but it's not definite yet...

So far July 14th is in the lead. It's looking as if this come weekend (June 22 and 23) are unlikely to win out. Which means we might miss GringoLoco unfortunately.

I'll check again tomorrow before completely ruling out this weekend as a date.

Yea, the plan now is for me to leave in two weeks and I'll be there for at least a month, so I'll be gone the whole month of July. We'll just have to organize another one sometime!

I'm going to go ahead and set the date for Sunday, July 14th. I'm thinking 2 pm. I hope you can make it!

We should make this a potluck lunch.
