Foreword: I will talk about how to get a $30 free ride using my referral code when signing up for Uber.

TLDR: If you open a new Uber account and use my promo code, we both get a free $30 ride.

I just used Uber (the increasingly popular rideshare app) for the first time last night! It was awesome. The app is super suave, with seamless GPS tracking of your location and your driver's car, accurate google-maps-like interface, and contact info for the driver in case you need to call and give any special directions for them to follow when picking you up. You pay by stored credit card info through the app, so when you get in/out of the driver's car, there's no fumbling with cash or receipts like in a regular cab. They send you a nice itemized receipt by email after the ride is over.

The receipt from my ride included the message that if any new uber users signed up with my referral code, both I and they would get a free ride of up to $30!

Seems like a pretty sweet deal, so if you're interested, my referral code is vpney. When you use it as a new customer, you and I both get a free $30 ride!

Even if you're not into referrals, Uber is still a really cool service, so I'd encourage peeps to look into it if it piques your curiosity.

The person you give it to gets to pocket the money.  If that person is your friend you can just give it to them without getting the ride for a free $30.

I'm glad we agree.  But then I don't think you and OneCoolCat agree on what "cash out" means.  You should regroup offline and get your story straight before attempting further discussion.

Maybe coolcat is assuming you and your friend also become drivers, and ride in each other's for the free ride, so you "cash out" the earnings of giving that ride?

Seems like a convoluted way to earn a few bucks (and you'll have to actually give a ride, price is based on gps and distance and such).
