"libertarian" because I'm a libertarian.  The "4321" means nothing.

4321 is the combination to my luggage

Ok ok, the combination is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard in my life!  That's the kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage!
Great movie. "Why didn't anybody tell me my ass was so big!"

Mine is dumb.  I don't play on the internets very often, so when I joined and was asked for a username I was stumped.

I chose some complicated misspelling of the word "bankruptcy" which I later shortened to Bank because it was slightly less ridiculous, and because I'd like to have some major bank by the time I retire.  The original name choice was because I'm a consultant who does a lot of work sorting out large corporate bankruptcies.

Oh!  Now that you say that, yes, it makes sense that you're the same person, there was some similarity in writing style/humor.  I thought Bank(rupt)$y was a clever play on the street artist Banksy.

My nick is a pen name I made up in HS after reading the  Dark Half, a female version of the the character George Starke.
I love that book!

I use "sheep" in a lot of usernames.  Everybody likes to think of themselves as independent-minded even though the evidence says everyone is vulnerable to preconceived ideas and herd mentality, so I like to remind myself of that.

Hybrid for two reasons.  One, I love to golf and a hybrid is a type of golf club, so hybrid reminds me of how much the country club was sapping from my stache before we dropped it (until we gain FI).  Two, because I will probably never get my budget down to 25K a year, but it's a lot lower than my peers, so I'm something in between.  A hybrid Mustachian.

I don't drive a hybrid car, however.  We've been a Mazda family for years.

I like it on all levels. Golf is one of my passions, but it's hard to justify the cost sometimes. I mostly golf on the cheap though with online deals at public courses when I actually do get out.

I'm also a hybrid mustachian, or low mustachian as I've heard recently on the forums. If it were just me I think I could do the "spend at the poverty level" challenge, but with the family I'm shooting for about $40K/year in RE until the kids are on their own. I think DW would prefer $60K/year, and I'm sure we'll meet somewhere in the middle.

Yes, same here. But I've become rather fond of my dear bride so that isn't happening any time soon. She is also a hybrid Mustachian and quite definitely has her limits on how low she will go.

I'm also a hybrid or low mustachian.  Slowly improving, but I also take steps that many might consider backwards (selling paid off condo and buying expensive house)

Since having 2 middle names is a pain in the ass, I dropped it when I got married.
What!? I love having two middle names :) I will say it is now much less of a pain in the ass than it used to be. I actually get my full name on my driver's license now instead of picking my favorite middle initial.
All the kids in my family have two middle names and so my BIL took on a second one when he married into the family
Weirdo :-P

Do I really need to explain mine? LOL!!!

I don't know... I always relate it to the old joke kids tell each other to get someone to call themselves retarded.  I assume that's what you're going for?

DING DING DING DING  ...you would be surprised how many people are clueless to it.  It's what came to me when I signed up. Did not put much thought into it.  It was either that or Bob Abooey.

Mine is a play on my initials and alma mater. Pony Up!

I always thought you were selling/buying your Mustang for Kelly Blue Book value

Might work if my initials were KBB. They are KKB. And I think many people thought I drove a Mustang. Never have. Right now I drive a Prius. Before that a Lexus. Before that a BMW. Before that a Mitsubishi Eclipse. Can you tell which car was the undergrad/law school and which was the I've Got A BigLaw Job car?

So, I've also always read it as kbb. Whoops.  :P

So THAT'S why he's so eager to be my friend!

There must be some opportunity for counter-intelligence, here!

He reminds me of a young me. Not much younger mind you; perhaps even a couple of years older.

I'm overweight so some of my friends call me "Fatty."  After I first got on this site I talked to them about what I was doing.  My brother was at our house when I first started to lay my wet clothes on the pool table to dry and he started singing "Mustache Fatty" to the tune of "Mustang Sally."  It stuck.

Nobody else understands how highly strung I am.

They're just not in tune with you.

If you're slightly intoxicated and say my first initial with my maiden surname you get something like koala. Add in some significant (to me) numbers and you have koala0924.

That pretty much sums up the way it was explained when I first heard it. A bit less hard-core mustachian, sort of a low gear mustachian.

I'm a handspinner (make yarn on a one of four spinning wheels), and I've been a sci-fi geek since 1977. The dichotomy amuses me.

I've had a different user name since the days of AOL, but like others I really didn't want it linked to my financial life.

I love this thread!

In real life, I am a Mary. And I used to play Magic: The Gathering and participate in a community for same in my local area. For a long time, I would append "...of DOOM!" to many declarations - while playing the game, while hanging out, pretty much whenever.

At one point, someone was writing a thread about people going to a tournament, or something, and mentioned me by name, but called me "Mary...of DOOM!" And here I am...something like fourteen years later? I love it. I pick it as a username EVERYWHERE.

War game, to be precise. Das Spiel is singular, the plural is die Spiele.

You might still be Matthew Broderick though, I'm not entirely convinced he's proficient enough in German to know this :)

Mine is a play on 'wide awake' but the idea that you can wind yourself up, or make yourself more awake and aware by being more thoughtful and deliberate. I first signed on with the username I use for everything (a post of which has recently resurfaced) but then is started a blog about relevant topics with this name so I changed it on here. The blog has since withered away.

A Rebel Spy was the chosen name.

Yah, I got used to people getting it wrong like 15 years ago.  The best is when I get to see the reaction in person (I.e. Someone I only know from online, then I introduce myself as a rebel spy and they have the dawning realization).  :)

I've often wondered if it was wind (as in "to wind something up") or wind (a gust of air outside)

Unfortunately I think most assume I am a guy because of the engineer part :-/  Though the gender poll cleared a lot of misconceptions!

Some of these explanations are so interesting!

Looks like she made her appearance in 'Clue the VCR Game' (which sounds pretty awesome, really).

Marcher Lords were landowners on the Welsh/English borders (known as the Welsh Marches) between the 11th and 16th centuries.  I live in that part of the world, and last time I checked, I was female, so I figured I would be a MarcherLady.  The irony of taking ownership of a middle-ages male title on a 21st century website amuses me.
